Android v W7?

Is there? i have one and its niggle free

Things like the lack of a flash which is bewildering, the questionable build quality (not its weight, parts of the phone become worn quite easily), the Wifi and GPS are both very suspect in many cases and the file system is rubbish and causes the phone to lag until you apply a fix to it. The not great TouchWiz UI that doesn't hold up well to Sense, etc.

It was said in jest, though I would argue that the android build I am using is fine, and the latest official rom is great (which you can run andriod on without issue).

Fair enough, I'm sure an experienced phone user would be able to get them running well enough but I wouldn't recommend it for the OP :p

Drag and drop is pure win. I don't know if W7 supports it but being able to plug my DHD into any computer and add/remove media as I see fit is exactly how it should be. It was a major bug bear with my iPhone, now I can throw on nearly anything at all and it just gets on with it.

I also like being able to overhaul the appearance when I get bored with the current one. After 2 years of iOS I would be quite happy to never have to see it again.

Popped into O2 just now, had a play with a HD7. First impressions were nice, slightly too big the phone i thought, could have been a little bit smaller but that's just personally preference. It's very sleek and professional, seems like a solid os and with time should mature quite nicely. Someone earlier mentioned the homepage and everything seems a bit empty, i can really understand this as it does'nt have a lot of colour to it. White, blue, bit of green, that's about it really! Quite boring!

Still stuck with what to do, the Galaxy not having a flash has put that one out the window already. Very bizarre! Still think it's gonna have to be a Desire HD at the moment due to the app store.....still a lot of research to do first though as i'm still sitting on the fence between windows and android.

:D have'nt really got anywhere then have i?

Desire HD is basically the same size of the HD 7 i thought?

So if its too big you might have to re think Desire HD.

Dont worry about flash its not exactly amazing in any device i really cant say i would miss it if it was removed. The GalaxyS will get flash eventually

The Desire HD is basically the same size as the HD7, yeah. The Omnia 7 is a bit smaller with a higher quality screen, so try one of those :p

They did'nt have an Omnia unfortunatley, getting more on thursday. Gonna go back and try one of those aswell, don't know what to do! :(

To be honest, any of these phones i will be completley smug with...especially upgrading from a Nokia 6730.

Windows Phone 7 is VERY under-rated, its far better than the iPhone in many, many ways and just needs an app store (and a few small software features that it lacks) to back it up now :)

As a HD7 owner i'd argue that it needs these developments to even compete with the iphone let alone surpass.

Very very misinformed. I was going to reply but ignorance is bliss and i dont want to upset you.

I'm not misinformed at all. I'm not saying the Galaxy S is a bad phone, its just got plenty of flaws (like just about every other phone too).

You cannot even begin to call it perfect. Sorry if I upset you :)

As I've said before, if I thought the SGS was the best phone around, I'd have one, I dont think that because it isn't.

Yeah this is what i'm thinking. I like a physical keyboard aswell, i hear you get used to touchscreen but it just does'nt feel the same for me. There's really good deals here for the Desire Z.

That £35 p/m O2 one seems a steal, if i'm reading it correctly i will get 11 months at £17.50!

Is that correct?

That is correct, yes. You have to send your bills back in though so its not the most straightforward thing in the world as you claim the money back via Redemption. It works fine though.

Hmm, bit of a pain but it's worth it i suppose. How reliable are they in actually giving you the money back? It says the money will be given to you sperodically. Can imagine a bit of skimping does go on. Bit annoying!

Maybe I'm missing something but neither of the O2 deals on that phone mention data.

Ah, under extra info they say "data charges - £1 daily cap"

What does that mean on a smart phone? £30 a month extra :/

The O2 site is hanging at the mo so I can't see if they have a cost per MB or similar.

Thanks for pointing that out! I did'nt notice the rental did'nt have data included. I'm on Vodafone at the mo, think i'm just going to stick with them. Can get a £35 p/m inc insurance with 500 mins talk, unlimited texts, 750mb data. Seems very good! Free phone phone of course.

Just got a Omnia 7as fancied a change from android and have to say very impressed its so slick and fast, no lag at all and the browser is so much better so far excellent phone.
