Anyone been to these shows yet or going to the Cambridge or Bristol ones (these are the last 2 in the UK before he buggers off to North America)?

I'm going to the Cambridge one @ the Junction on the 3rd of March (a few days before my birthday so early celebrations!).

e: Lineup:

ANDY C: ALIVE
JOKER
WILKINSON & MC GQ
PROTOTYPES
N TYPE
DAVID VENN

It looks absolutely sick, I can't wait!

it's essentially just a d'n'b/dubstep night, but there's some clever VJ'ing to go along with what's happening aurally. looks like it's going to be fairly fat.

Basically Andy C using a mixer (Allen & Heath Xone DB4 I believe) that allows him to control the visuals on the screen behind him through the mixer.

In terms of audio, standard Andy set. Visuals are obviously different though.

I can see this damaging his sets though. His 3-4 deck mixing has always been about rapid selection, double/triple drops, teases etc. He doesn't exactly leave tunes blending for 64 bars.

If he starts doing the latter, then he'll be no different than any other 2 deck DJ. Well, apart from some fancy visuals behind heh.

still, it'll be an experience. he's without a doubt one of the most interesting dj's out there, and this is something slightly different.

i'm not really bothered if he does his usual 24x deck thing, his tune selection is awesome anyway.

plus, i much prefer seeing him during the middle of the night, rather than at the end when he ramps up the bass, so all you can hear is mc + rumble. it gets tedious when it's nearing 6am :p

what about the other dj's that played? anything come good of their sets?

the tickets are already booked (i'm travelling from Bath to Cambridge to see friends anyway, so figured i'd do that too) so i guess i'll just have to wait and see.

Andy C has easily been my favourite dj over the past 10 years, so hoping this doesn't ruin my opinion of him :D

saw it/him at Warehouse Project in Manchester last November

it was over before it began - his set only lasted about 45 minutes and was nowt special tbh

You're obviously one of the following:

1. Not a fan of dnb.
2. Fan of Shogun Audio.

Which is it?

what are you on about "mate"? I am indeed a fan of D&B and know a good set when I see one...but that show was extremely disappointing, frankly, given all the hype around it.

the OP may well have a better experience - but for me, as something I'd been looking forward to for months, I was completely underwhelmed.

Loefah & Chunky's set was better tbh and that wasn't a headline act

I said that because all the proper heads I know, can't speak a bad word about Andy, unless of course they have seen him about 70 times that year (his intros etc, become very samey).

On the other hand, the jump up / RAM tunes that Andy typically plays, are completely different to that of Shogun Audio (Frictions label), i.e:

Either way, good shout on Loefah, he always kills it!

Seen Andy C, Prototypes, N-Type and MC GQ before. All very different in their own right, especially since N-Type is normally a Dubstep DJ. Not too sure how different the visuals are going to be when compared to any of his festival sets however.

well, what a show that was! amazingly, andy didn't have an mc through his set, which was refreshing, and there was only gq for the entire show, and he knew when to shut up which was nice :)

i was surprised to see andy had 3 decks, and jesus he was amazing - so many teasers/double/triple drops, absolute bedlam!

i'd recommend people go see this, it's quite different from the usual d'n'b/dubstep raves
