Angle grinder help

It's literally what I did. Scrap bit of metal. Measure out the distance of the holes on the grinder. Find suitable bolts that fit and reach holes on grinder. On scrap metal drill holes to size of bolt thread. Pop bolts through, nut on the other side. Tighten. Sorted.

Friend of a friend cut his arm off with one, fortunately the guy with him was a paramedic otherwise would probably have died.

I have always been a bit casual with angle grinders but once I heard that story I treadt them with a lot more respect now.

Yeah, I'm happy using most power tools, but angle grinders scare the **** out of me!

Let's be careful out there. re-post of pictures of my goggles after they were smashed strap getting caught on the drill wire brush,
as I pulled drill away from face/neck. - remains still in the garage as a reminder, + scar on neck.

Yeah, I'm happy using most power tools, but angle grinders scare the **** out of me!

I used angle grinders for about 30 years, a few minor accidents but managed to cut my finger tip off with a circular saw and broke my arm arguing with a large pillar drill.
I do cringe when I see some videos of people using them without guards though(even though I used to )

I think it's just the ridiculous RPM they spin at, mine does 13k RPM...that's more than 3x faster than my circular saw. You aren't stopping something moving that fast if you lose control of it even for a moment!

Always, always wear gloves and wrap-around eye protection when using angle grinders.

You WILL have a cutting shatter on you at some point, no matter how carefully you use your angle grinder.

on the drill I subsequently questioned whether I should ever use it in the locked on mode (e: ie not deadmans handle) - since my instinct when it unexpectedly moved towards my face was trying to pull it away not release the switch.

I've used some slow,high torque drills (old drills) that if the drill bit snagged could break your wrist if you weren't careful and that's using 2 handles
