Good luck with playing it. Server has been down today and my retail copy cannot be activated. Currently hunting out the crack so I can actually play the copy I purchased.

They have definitely been having a lot of issues with their servers, but I would advise against cracking it. Be patient, you will be missing out on a tonne of features if you play offline.

Have not played this much since the release of The Old Republic, but will probably get back into it before too long.

I'm probably going to buy this, but I'd probably get it on steam but it's so darn expensive! Surely it will be in the sale though soon. I'll probably "patch" the DRM out of it too haha

Patching out the DRM will involve switching it to offline - in the process you will miss out on a load of features :(

Wonder if Ubisoft will release a patch for off-line play when this game is older? So don't lose any of the features currently available (when servers are working).

Doesn't matter how you obtain the game (even the pirate version), unless you have the DRM and are online, you won't get a lot of the features.

You'll miss out on some core features in the game.

The DRM has never been fully broken (yet).

Nothing like being screwed over for what you pay for then huh. Does steam get around the DRM? I'll be buying it from steam anyway and I'd like to think that as long as I'm online on steam that surely should count?

It will be tricky because of the way it has been integrated, but I really hope so.

I have the Steam version, and it essentially launches through the Ubisoft launcher, so has all of the same DRM and server problems.

With this in mind, however, I would still recommend the game. It is an excellent edition to the Anno series, and has already received excellent post release support with patches.

Is It possible to do this, lets say you have 5 ships and 10 islands,is it possible to set up the ships on a route where they visit each island collect the goods and then go straight to an ark and sell the goods?and then start off at island one again?

Hoping this appears in the Steam sale, really enjoyed the demo. Seen it for £13 on G2Play but I'm suspicious about how they do business really, so I'd rather get it from somewhere I know is legitimate.

Almost decided to grab the collectors edition since it seemed cheap, then checked this thread and saw all the issues with Ubi's servers down meaning that, yet again, legit users can't play the game they bought. If it was just the online content that stopped working then that's acceptable, sometimes servers have issues but you should still be able to play the game.

Ah well, to the high seas I go.

I really like the Anno franchise but each game has something missing. Once you've built your colonies and perfected your economic infastructure there is something desperately lacking at the end of it all, for me at least.

I did wait (9 hours before I could activate the game I had paid for) and the game is worth it. However I am still majorly unhappy that Ubi could turn off the servers tomorrow if they wanted and my game would be missing a pile of the content.

It's the last game I will (knowingly) buy from them as a publisher, the risk of buying a dead dog is just too great. The net result will be a reduction in their bottom line for PC games and they will hopefully pull out and go back to developing dancing games on the consoles.

As long as that doesn't damage the smaller developers of games like Heroes VI and Anno then a PC gaming industry without Ubisoft would be a better one.
