Anno type game?

Hi everybody!

Been looking for ages for a new game to sink my teeth into. I recently fired up old favourites Startopia and anno 2070 but I've played these to death.

I'm after a RTS/Management type game where you build a base, city or empire and just improve on it, trade, combat and expand.

I tried the recently released Aven colony but after 4 hours it just felt repetitive and empty although it shows some potential. Im Hoping there's a few gems out there I haven't heard about.

Been playing Banished as it was cheap on Steam, but it's a bit limited in what you can do.

Have you tried Northgard? Its not complex, but is very fun to play, they have just released a new Clan, and they say there is a campaign coming to

You mention Anno 2070 so have you tried Anno 2205? Nowhere near as good as 2070 imo - they messed up the warfare side and put limits on certain things. I got bored before finishing it which is a bit of a shame.

I've never played it due to the whole dumbing down thing you mentioned. If i can find it cheap enough i might give it a blast. Is there still a continuous mode like sandbox?

Not sure on the continuous mode, haven't played it in a while. It was interesting enough with the different environments (tundra, arctic and the moon) but I never found myself immersed in it if you know what I mean.

Been playing that myself - is good fun but think the building options could be expanded a bit. Appreciate its still EA but hope there are a few more defiensive buildings / walls or the like

Banished is the only game that's come close to keeping me interested as Anno 2070 did.

Annoyed that they scrapped coop builds in the latest Anno as we spent hours building up our cities.

No combat, but the game is great & can be modded big time.

New one with combat (at least base defending), Aven Colony.

Anno 1404? It's generally considered the best of the Anno series.

Love that game, one of the most replayable games I've ever played too. Each one is like it's own little story of death, struggle, more death and then usually death.

Rimworld is good. Lots of funny things happen in it too. I accidentally set my jail on fire and the prisoners burned alive

I picked up anno 2205 with all the DLC for £15 and whilst a bit more simplified than the previous games it's been fairly enjoyable. Combat is terrible though!!

I also picked up factorio and it's the most overwhelming game I've ever played!
