Anno1800 pulled from Steam - going to be on UPlay and Epic store

Don't Ubisoft already have games that are exclusive to uplay? I'm sure there are other ubisoft games you can buy on steam which in turn open the Uplay client to launch so it's bit of non news.

All new ubisoft games and last few years , needs uplay to play them anyway , as much as i love steam , i still think it is best to get them off there site , as u have to use there game launcher anyway ,
i no a lot of people who do not like the uplay launcher but there is know way round it if u want to play a ubisoft game from the past few years ....

O thanks Tombstone i forgot about the 20% off with there points :)

Interested in seeing if there is a backlash to this, since it's obviously been nabbed by Epic but its not an Epic exclusive, it's just not on Steam.

Don’t really see the problem. I just buy from whereever is cheaper and for this it would have been uplay for the 20% discount.

I like steam but I’m not bothered about having multiple launchers on my PC. I have steam, uplay and orgin, will more then likely get Epic at some point when a game I want is on there.

Really dont like this fragmentation at all. The one saving grace is the requirement to pay for the content with free access to the platforms. in Film and Tv land netflix is going through the same thing as steam - content disappearing and end users needing to use more and more platforms to access the content they want. The difference being you have to pay to sub to each platform and there is absolutely nothing positive about that.

Looks like I'll be buying this game soon. Not seen it cheaper than CD Keys for £36.99. Kinda hoping that it would have been around the £25 or so price.

Now that is interesting. I mean, I have bought a fair few Ubi games straight from their store since they are often cheaper (or CDkeys!), but it will be interesting to see if future titles follow suit. Steam need to get their act together if they want to keep the big titles on their store. Personally I dislike the Epic store more and more.

That is quite pricey. Might wait for it to come down.

It sucks for the consumer. I am all for competition, but not dilution across the platforms.

It's funny people now getting all mardy over epic store, prior to them you would think we only had steam...

There has been multiple launchers for yonks, its not the end of the world, once your in the game whocares what you clicked to play it.

I imagine if your talking to friends whilst playing its not using the launchers tools anyway as there garbage on all of them, be a third party app e.g Discord, team speak etc

It's not a case of people being 'mardy' over multiple launchers, having Steam, Origin, Uplay, Battlenet etc isn't a problem at all. The problem lies purely with the ****** Epic launcher and the parent company's shady practices.

Yeah cause the rest of them are all angels and behave perfectly.

Steam when it first launched was utter *****, give epic a chance to improve the launcher.

It's hardly difficult or destroying people's lives by having to use it, people need to get a grip its a launcher for christ sake

Steam for the most part is a mess and full of turd now, hence why I stopped browsing the store years ago. It's suggestion scheme it's also a fail.

Uplay I don't even look at the store once I'm in a game I don't touch it, same with origin and blizzard.

My issue is that they keep taking exclusivity rights on games forcing us to use it and leaving us in a position that we lose out if we don’t use it. This hasn’t happened much with the other platforms.

I’ll just wait. Plenty of games to play in the meantime. After a year they will have fewer bugs and should be cheaper.

Surely though steam is in part fault if there taking a much bigger cut of the sales it only makes sense a developer will jump ship even if its for a small period of time it will be a massive difference.

As I also game on consols exclusive issue has never been one to bother me, its no different to how of you want a Mario game well your buying Nintendo and if you want certain games from Sony your buying a PlayStation

Steam shouldn’t take as much as they do, but then they have been in a position to do so. I wonder whether the developers will make as much overall with a much smaller audience.

Valves issues were purely with the launcher and servers and it wasn't as bad as you make it out to be. The issue with the epic launcher concern privacy, both the way the launcher harvests data from steam and the fact that Tencent are involved. It's not just a buggy launcher.

I had steam on its launch day and it was bad, its obviously much better now but its had years to get to this stage and for the most part nothing to rival it in the early years

I signed up to steam in Jan 2005 and the issue were dealt with by then. You make it sound like it was disastrous for years when it obviously wasn't.

Not too bothered by this one given UPlay needs to launch regardless with Ubi games in last few years. To be honest built up a reasonable catalogue of games in uplay in its own-right.

With that said its annoying some games are entirely exclusive like Metro and outer worlds (though available on Windows) and there is the privacy bit. But for Anno specifically, not too bothered.
