Anno1800 pulled from Steam - going to be on UPlay and Epic store

I signed up to steam in Jan 2005 and the issue were dealt with by then. You make it sound like it was disastrous for years when it obviously wasn't.
No I didn't, where did I say it was bad for years? I said it took years to get where it is now that's a fact.

It's had time to mature, get better new features etc.

Epic has not had that long, people just get all ****** cause it's not on steam.

It's what you didn't say.

there are two issues here. fragmentation and what that means for the future (bad for us!), and Epics shady practices and the shady company that has stakes in them. If you think it's just about games not appearing on steam then you've not really been listening because it's just not that simple. I don't care, for example, if Epic launcher has some teething issues (uplay has come on leaps and bounds, who complains about that these days?). I do care that they are harvesting data from steam, that they are paying huge lumps of cash to gain exclusives when publishers dont have their own platform to publish on OR to ensure it does appear on multiple platforms with the exception of steam (or any other) and i care about their questionable ties with Tencent as well.

Like you I've been impressed by how well Uplay has been turned around. Having said that, I guarantee that some still complain about it, its the nature of gamers. Anyone who spends 1 day on any internet gaming forum or online game can easily see how gamers are expert whiners. :)

Yep, exactly this. In fact the launcher is the one thing I'm okay with, it's lightweight and launches games, there isn't much more I want from a launcher personally.

Then again, if people do have an issue with the launcher it's a valid complaint, and it's no excuse that they haven't had as long as steam. There was no real competition when steam launched, but things have moved on and it's no good coming to market with a vastly inferior product.
