Ok so I had been running windows xp, and my headset sounded blissful through my xfi...but then I upgraded to windows 7.

At this time, I noticed my headset didnt sound as good, specifically it was lacking in the bass department, I just thought my headset had seen better days and I didnt give it more thought.

Well now, I did some googling and it seems a lot of people are having the bass problem and I found something called a creative pax driver, which im now downloading.

This looks like it will fix my problems, why havent creative done anything about this?!?!

BTW if it STILL sounds pap I will be aquiring a xonar and I hope to never have these problems again.

Ok, installed the pax driver...they sound amazing again.

What baffles me is why havent creative released their own version?

Bewildering.

Thats why I gave up with Creative. Will never buy their products again. I had issues with Mic boost on Vista. Worked fine in XP, creative said the hardware did not support it and sad that it never did in XP either. Despite evidence to the contrary, they said I was wrong . . . . A joke tbh.

TBH though, Asus are no better really. People too have problems with Xonar's, and problems have still not been addressed by Asus. There are modified drivers available for Xonar's, which like X-Fi modified drivers, solve problems for many a person. Both Creative and Asus are crap when it comes to drivers. They both need to employ people who know what they are doing.

I just tried those drivers and there's a definite improvement to the bass. I was wondering why my X-Fi was sounding less vibrant and more muffled.

The death of the incredible Gravis Ultrasound was due to driver (or lack of) problems. Todays sound card companies should not forget this!
