Hello guys,

I hope you can help? I'm more and more frequently having this problem as to where my Firefox browser will freeze, I will click something and get (Not responding) appear. I leave it for 30-45 seconds and it comes back to life. I don't use this computer for anything more than surfing the Internet and forums etc.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be? Only started a few days ago and im almost tempted to do a complete re-install but would rather not waste a few hours of my life doing so :)

Thanks in advance :)

Have you checked how much memory usage it is using at the time? On my laptop it seems to quite frequently eat up all the memory and hog one core to 100%, if I kill the process and restart it seems to often go back up to the high usage. If I instead shut it down and let it clear it self out sometimes takes ages then it's usage on restart is normal.

I had exactly that problem recently, CPU wasn't spiking, wasn't using a lot of memory and was just sitting there doing sod all. I eventually got fed up with it and downloaded the latest Firefox installer from the site and did a reinstall. Everything is still there, addons etc so wasn't really a hassle. Pretty sure it happened after a Firefox update, but not straight away.

Thanks for the replies. PC seems to be just freezing randomly too so its not entirely Firefox's fault but I will download the installer and see how that goes.

I'm having a similar firefox problem. FF is slow and sluggish when switching tabs, typing is slow to appear, scrolling is slow to respond and the mouse pointer is slow to change from a curser. I don't have any other problems with my pc or other web browsers.

I've given up on firefox after many years, i had 2 trojans through it recently, Kaspersky found them immediately, but still would reboot my rig if i tried using firefox. So time for a change.
