Annoying harddrive

When i'm sitting at my desk, my hard drive is always chattering away, and the hard drive light seems to flicker on and off all the time.

Is there any way of working out why it's doing this? For example finding out what it's accessing all the time?

I'm running vista if that helps...

yes, open up task manager, click the performance tab, then click resource meter.
Then just expand the disk section and bobs your uncle
