Not sure if its the 7800GT fan or what it is but it seems to be coming from that area of the PC.7800 is the XFX LED version so im not sure if i can get a zalman on it.Anyone else tried a aftermarket cooler on the LED Version?

Thx

I have a pair of Rev 2 BFG 7800GT's with the led lights and i got rid of the coolers on those straight away. Noisy damn things. I have a VF700 on the top one and a AC Nvidia Silencer on the lower one. Does'nt half make a difference to noise and temps are lower too. :D

Simple and quick.

Just whip the old cooler off and clean up the gpu to get all the old thermal gunk off.

The VF700-CUis only held on by a couple of bolts and is really easy to fit. Make sure you fit the ramsinks first or there are a few you won't be able to get on. Either use the Zalman gunk that came with it or get some AS5 which is what i used. Runs quiet even on the full speed setting.

If you go for a AC Nvidia Silencer it has the added bonus of exhausting the hot air out the back of the case. Fits with four bolts but is still quick and easy to fit. Cools the ram as well on the card.

Both take around 10-15 mins to fit and that includes removing the stock cooler and cleaning the gpu up.

If you shop around you can get the AC Silencer for £12.99 plus delivery, you want the NV Silencer 5 Rev.3 version.

You can get the Zalman VF700-Cu for around the same price. I managed to buy the pair of mine from the same shop for £26.99 delivered.
