Annoying problem

I have had this for a few weeks. its very sporadic, sometimes it happens after a few hours, sometimes it doesnt happen for a few days.

this happens to most games and also to steam and bittorrent

so if I want to play the game, I try to play it, I get the horrible error sound and also this error pops up. then the game wont work for a few hours. then suddenly it can work again. reboot also fixes the problem.

none of my hardware is overheating.
 
usually means bad ram, are you overclocking your ram? perhaps try giving it a tad more voltage

run mumtest as suggested until you find settings that work, (try one stick at a time incase one of them is broken)
