Annoying spam texts

I'm getting random texts almost every day saying I'm approved for a loan, or records show I'm owed money from something, etc, text STOP to stop these messages. So I text stop and they send me the same texts from a different number. Apart from forcing me to waste texts, it's incredibly annoying. Is there a way to stop this spam?

i never reply with stop,. that just tells them that you actually read the messages and they spam you more

All the preference services are a waste of time as they just use auto diallers. Just delete them never replying.

not sure if this'll work but i use go sms and it has a keyword filter as mentioned above which only applies to numbers not in contact list. i use a load of keyowrds, STOP being one, PPI another, loan etc and get no spam.

now this may only work as your main sms program, but it's perhaps worth a try getting this app, setting the keyword blocker and then putting your prefered text app as the default and see if it still works

Report the numbers in question to PhonepayPlus

That is only for premium rate numbers, but all of those messages come from standard mobile numbers which phonepayplus doesn't cover.

Anyone who gets a spam text should forward it to 7726, 37726 or 87726 depending on what network you are on (the second and third are for three and vodafone respectively), and never respond with a stop message as it just tells the spammer that the number is active which will cause more spam texts to be sent.

This year I've noticed a big increase in spam emails ,texts an home line phone calls really gets on my nerves all saying same rubbish you been getting.

some good reading here, thanks guys. I have Android and might try banning a few keywords. If I block 'PPI' as one of them, will it also block 'Philippines' as well? Just occurred to me as that country's name has ppi in the middle of that word.

P.S. OP, if you thought about using TPS (telephone preference service), then it's only useful for cold calls that originate from this country. The reason why you still get PPI texts is because they originate from overseas and TPS cannot do anything about that :-(
