Annoying spotify problem

Hi Folks,

When I am using spotify and I press the play/ pause button on my keyboard the spotify music stops but which is fine but also iTunes starts and starts playing a song (even though iTunes isn't open at the time!).

If I then press the play/ pause button again iTunes pauses and spotify starts again.

How do I disassociate the play/ pause button with iTunes so it doesn't automatically start when I press it. It's really annoying as the only way around it is using the mouse to select spotify (I am using doing something else while I am listening) and click play/ pause.

Cheers

Matt

To be honest pal, I was going to say it was in iTunes preference but having a look now I can't see it.

Then in keyboard in System Preferences I cannot see an option neither.

Happens to me as well using VLC, I hit play/pause and out pops iTunes etc....confusing sometimes!

:o

I did a bit of research around this issue a while back, from what I remember the play key is linked to iTunes full stop, there's nothing can be done about it atm

This behaviour changed with Snow Leopard, or maybe one of the point releases. But the behaviour has annoyed me with VLC.

Workarounds specifically for spotify

and for the remote in general

'Hack'

Leaving iTunes open at the Store also serves as an ugly workaround. Other have the QuicktimeX app always open which will silently catch clicks.
