I have an annoying spyware problem, ive tried uninstalling mozilla, but it makes no difference, ive ran avast and adaware and the problem persists.

If i type anything in google, i get an advert up with something similar to what ive searched for, for instance, i was trying to find a company called admiral in Glasgow, i clicked search and a new page opens with an advert for admiral direct insurance.

How can i get rid of this as its driving me nuts.

Turn off System Restore, install NOD32 & Update, run full scan in Safe Mode.

Normally I'd have agreed; but I've sorted not one but TWO computers this week which were teeming in trojans and malware despite running a legit, fully updated and heavily configured NOD32 install

One was an XP SP3 box, installed by me and running NOD32 continuously since day one. I found nearly 200 trojans and worms on there, including droppers and a key logger. The second was a guy I know who again was running NOD under similar circumstances and had half a dozen trojans and misc. malware.

Both were only detected after random popups started appearing etc, we all know the symptoms. NOD32 still scanned as clean (0 infected files found). SuperAntiSpyware and Avira AntiVir (better than NOD32, or at least how NOD32 USED to be) sorted it in safe mode in the end.

I now only use, or recommend, Avira AntiVir. I got the Premium Edition for free via TrialPay too :D

EDIT: Should have added; I only discovered Avira after my OWN computer was over-run by trojans last year, while I was also running... well, I'll let you guess which AV it was :o That was v2.7 of NOD iirc, fully configured for top detection rates as per Blackspear's settings.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware sorts things out for me 99% of the time, make sure you are updated before scanning. In the event that fails, only then do I resort to SDFix/ComboFix in safe mode, and then one final scan using NOD32.
