Annoying spyware thing, how to get rid?

Not AVG. AVG isn't very good. Another free one such as avast maybe as a normal antivirus but not for this.

AVG now has a built in Spyware scanner too..... I have found it works really well too.

Adaware does not seem to do much anymore, Spybot seems to do less and takes an absolute age to scan anything... :(

My fab four which have worked best for me are:

1. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
2. Super AntiSpyware
3. AVG
4. Microsoft Malicious Software Remover (mrt.exe)

I've just installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Super AntiSpyware on two machines and picked up stuff that spyboy/adaware didn't, so will defo use these two from now on.

Whilst Spybot etc may help, a format & reinstall is the best option tbh. As once you've been infected, it's the only way to be 100% sure there are no remaining spyware/viruses on your system.

That assuming you either can see that's something is wrong like OP or, an anti program picks up something, otherwise how would you know?

I ran SAS and Malwarebytes on the PC that hasn't had a format in about 7 years, I know.
But one picked up things the other didn't. So if you only ran one app you could still be infected and think that you were clean.

Or is all that rubbish, quite possible. :D
