Anonymously Reporting Neighbour for Drink/Drugged Driving

I am pretty sure the "Hang Up" doesnt work anymore does it? IIRC when i called the police before i am pretty sure that it read my details back to me before being put through to the controller? Mobile phones are all in a database that is accessed by 999 when the call is connected so that people struggle or get spooked if they are timewasters. Unless i am wrong.

I reported a guy I worked with to Crimestoppers. Within 2 weeks his car had been stopped twice, and on the second occasion they caught him drink driving.

Ok there's lot's of good information on this page, and weird and wonderful information that's incorrect.

The best way to deal with this is to report it via your local Constabulary's website. Don't call 101 unless you want to hang on there for 4352652 hours - report it on the website, it all goes through to the same place and dealt with in the exact same way. For things like this, it is common for people to not want to give their names for fear of reprisals from neighbours, which is completely understandable. So, just say that. If there is any regular times and days he goes out ****** up/on drugs, put that on the report. What type of drugs does he take and do you know if he takes them more on Friday/Saturday's or if he does it throughout the week?

If you do see him go out and you're pretty certain he's ******/on drugs, then call it in on 999. You don't have to give your name and again, if you sound like a reasonable person just explain why and they'll understand. Just be aware, with this sort of anonymous information, if the Police put in a couple of stops and the guy isn't drunk/passes a drug wipe then it can easily be put down to malicious information, so just make sure that you're fairly certain he does. Hopefully they'll stick a marker on the vehicle but it needs the right information on it so that it maximises the chance of getting a positive stop ie. if you know a guy who drink drives every Friday night, and that isn't on the marker and the guy gets stopped on a Wednesday morning going to work when he's stone cold sober - it's going to get put down as potentially malicious.

Thanks for the advice.

I can give them the address, the make, model and numberplate of the car (Its not exactly inconspicuous) and the times (Normally Friday/Sat/Sunday evening) when they are driving about. Both of them do it, i have heard him shouting at her on sat/sun morning as she is on her "cocain comedown". I am actually pretty sure that he is almost always drunk and gets a lift to work because of it but still drives about at the weekend. I often hear them binning all their bottles in the recycling. A couple of years ago i had someone come over to cut the trees down and the gardener came over to me a short while later and said is he always like that as he reeked of booze and could hardly stand, got in his car and drove off he was going to call the police but he would 100% have known who it was and as he was there most of the day would probably have had a go at me.

They are both aggressive, drunk/drugged scumbags who have no respect for the law or the other residents and his "hard man who will take anyone on even coppers" attitude has come close to getting someone killed already and will probably if he isnt took off the road...

Report to 999 - I phoned 101 about a guy who was parked up across the road drinking vodka miniatures and then drove off - call handler told me I should have called 999 and if he comes back to do so straight away.

Even if he is banned he'll no doubt continue to drive.

Phone police, give them the reg and address and say they are dunk/drugged. They will get flagged by ANPR, or be waiting for them at home maybe.

If they catch them in the act, they catch them. They don't need you to get involved.

Well just to update. I have called 101 and they were very helpful and understood that i wanted to be anonymous. I gave them all the info including their address, car reg, make, model etc along with the times they go out and to where they might go, descriptions of them etc. They said they will be on the lookout for the car in the evening about the area where possible and to call 999 with the reference number if i see them going out while drunk. Lets hope they catch them before they hurt someone.

After watching a million Traffic Cop type programmes they take it very seriously.
This won't be the normal Police going after him but the Traffic Cops will take over who are usually scouting around anyway.

Lets hope so. Funnily enough the last episode i watched of police interceptors was from Derby and an asian guy was caught drink driving just down the road from where my mum lives. He couldnt even stand up when they stopped him.
