A pall wants me to build him a Gaming PC for £1000, however i have converted to the dark side and am now a mac user.

My last custom build was a Tri SLI 8800GTX with a q6600 @3.2 and 4GB DDR2 ram,

yes i know it's overkill i was experimenting (hence the switch to mac so i can't upgrade an iMac easily!)

things i see have changed to i7's and ddr3.

were keeping his 8800GTX so need something for £1000 or under that will last him for a few years.

i7 i think (i was tempted by the pre over-clocked bundles as it's less work for me messing around in the bios etc)

please lead me back down the path of riotousness (well for this one build)

oh and gonna put windows 7 on it for now,

wouldnt bother with pre overclocked.. the clocks on them are so easily achieved it will take 2mins to get a low overclock

He wont need to upgrade his GPUs since tri SLi 8800GTX has got to be still very good would have thought it would be more powerful than a 4890 tbh. Even if it isn't it wont be a big performance gap.

OMG I spooned it again, meh, it's a lack of sleep. That 620W Coolermaster PSU is actually meant to be a Coolermaster V8 CPU cooler.
