Hi, could you please give your advice on this 4K video edit build I'm thinking about.
I like to have about 8 sata sockets, I've got a good few harddrives but not sure which motherboard would suit best.
Some of my software is GPU hungry :)

Thanks

The Asrock is a high end motherboard supporting quad gpu config , usb type c ports and high power phases for overclocking compared to the asus. Unless you need the extra features then the Asus is the value choice and you could put the money to a 1080 if you need the extra cuda cores which can be had for £489.

OK thanks for that, the Asus board sounds as if it would suit best.

Thank you for looking and advice.

Perhaps a 1700 CPU would serve just as well as a 1700x?

No games, just 4K video editing and H.264 encoding, what you think ...or best to go for the 1700K?
Thanks.

Go with the 1700 then, as you can always overclock it a bit to match the 1700X. Also I have just noticed on the listing page that the 1700X doesn't come with a stock cooler (The 1700 does) so it would mean you wouldn't be able to use it until you get the mounting kit. So for the short term you can use the stock cooler with the 1700 and then it would just be a case of cleaning the paste off when you come to fit the D15 (You will get thermal paste with the stock cooler and the D15 either pre-applied or in a tube/sachet).

I often wondered with the pre applied past, is it OK to keep it on or wipe it off and use something like Artic Silver instead?

Thanks.

The Noctua D15 comes with very good thermal paste (Noctua NT-H1) so you don't need to buy anything else.
