another 5970 ?

+1 for the SSD.

I dont think there is any point adding any more gfx cards or replacing the 5970 until either antilles or the next gen (of which I guess nvidia will be first this time round).

If your not down for the SSD, it has to be either a 120hz monitor or eyefinity. I tried eyefinity the other day and it is actually something to behold. Provided you can find a higher enough quality monitor with a slim enough bezel. The ideal would be three slimline 1920x1200 120hz monitors, but they dont seem to exist yet :/

Don't bother, just clock your 5970 (950/1315 is good!) .... for a real difference that you will actually notice get a 3 x 1080p eyefinity setup and play a few games to see where the issues are and you'll find the biggest issue is VRAM ... I sold my 5870 on and my 5970 has done fine on its own since and is soon to be partnered with a 30" 2560x1600 monitor which is 2/3 the pixel count of eyefinity so will be quite good for a while to come from what I can see!

This could be worth a go if you can't resist buying another gpu http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-103-MS

I considered 2x6970 but this year the monitor won ..

im getting 33000 on my 5970 in vantage with the i7 980x.....i am also very tempted to drop another 5970 in for quadfire.have been looking on ebay for a second card but havent made my mind up totally yet

Absolutely no reason to 'upgrade' from a 5970 - literally nothing needs it.
If anyone is desperate to sink a few hundred, put it into a great ips monitor that you'll use for 5-10 years.
