Nvidia 1060 6gb vs AMD RX580 8gb

Photoshop and Premier Pro - NOT Gaming

I seem to be going round in circles and would love some help deciding which to buy..

The 1060 seem to a tad more expensive than the RX580 especially when looking at the used market

I have studied these two web sites.

The concussions is the NVidia cards are faster than the AMD ones but when you start working with only 1080p the gap is not as big.

However I also need to consider the build. In my case a Mini ITX cube that will be running a Ryzen 7 2700

So important factors are noise and heat.

Those of you who have experience of both I would appreciate your thoughts

I can't speak for the requirements with regards to your use case, but for thermals the Nvidia cards are more efficient and thus cooler. Quieter still depends on which AIB model you go for, but on a like-for-like basis the 1060 will be quieter.

Also Vega is a different architecture to Polaris (RX 580) so not sure if the comparisons will be relevant.

The RX580 is mentioned in the articles.

I am going towards the 1060 but the penny pincher in me if having a fight with my heart :)

Some mentioned the Palitt Jetstream for quiet, I have also heard the Mei gaming x is quiet however the plait would be an easier fit in the case

RX580 (or RX570 if not more than 1080p gaming). Especially if the latter still has the £110 game offer is no brainier as you can sell the codes and cut the price even more.

If you're not gaming then you don't even need a 1060 or 580. GTX 1050 Ti or RX 560 for about £150 would do you fine. I put a EVGA 2GB GTX 1050 into a Devil's Canyon video edit machine a few years back and it's been a monster - cool, quiet, no extra PCI-E power.

Also, "ITX cube case" could be anything, especially as a lot of ITX cases miss the point and are stupid huge. So exactly which case are you using?
