Hi all,

Struggling to make the decision between the KFA2 GTX980 8Pack edition 4GB @£359.99 on OcUK, and any one of the R9 390 8GB edition, which can be had for as much as £150 cheaper on OcUK as well.

Any thoughts?

I don't think anyone should buy a GTX 980 tbh, it's just not good enough to warrant the 50% extra cost over a 970/390.

I'd go for the 390 if I were you.

Thanks all, lots of good advice, which has led me towards the 390 camp (rather than the 390X).

There seems to be a range of roughly £80 in the 390s at the moment - £229 for the PowerColor, up to £289 for the Asus Strix, with the MSI and Sapphire sat somewhere in the middle. Any thoughts on which is the best way to go, taking into account RMA/warranty service, extra features etc? Clocks seem to be fairly consistent across the board.

If you have space for the 2.5 PCI slot cooler for the Powercolor, i would go for that as its way cheaper than the others (also i believe it comes with a backplate) and put the money away for a future upgrade.

If not, you cant go wrong with the MSI.

I'd go for MSI in the middle, have a pretty decent RMA service.

If you're thinking about the PCS, make sure a 2.5 slot card won't interfere with SATA ports (mainly a problem on cheap, older motherboards) on your motherboard.

I think he meant a 980, not a (3)90.

980's performance just isn't good enough to warrant its £120+ cost on a 390, and anyone willing (and subsequently wanting) to spend close to £400 on a GPU should just save a bit more and get a 980Ti.

Why's that?

I meant a 980, The performance isn't far off a 780 Ti, I know I've had both.

I would agree save a lot more than treat yourself
