Another Battery Question

Right started to notice recently that my lights are going dimmer when i turn the heater blowers on or when the wipers are on.

I have used a multimeter to measure the voltages, when the engine is running it says 14.2v but when i turn it off it goes down to 12.7v then after a few mins its down to 12.4v - Does this sound right?

The car in question is a 2002 Astra and as far as im aware its the original battery from the factory.

Seems ok, Halfords or most motorfactors will do a proper battery test for free for you.
 
Was it loaded (ie. Wipers blower and lights on) when you measured these voltages.

If not then you were half way to only measuring potential, which is the 2nd biggest sin of electronics.
 
Ok im back - just took it to two places (kwik fit and tyre sales) who put it on there machines kwik fit came up as red so its knackered and tyre sales machine was amber who said it needed a good charge.

Will go and try the blower thing now
 
ok with the engine running and the blowers, wipers, and lights on its fluctuating between 13.8v and 14.02v
 
Battery sounds fine but your alternator probably isn't supplying all the power it could be. Might be worth getting it checked. Sooner rather than later or it will kill the battery if it's not charging fully.

Yea they did £65 so i told him i would leave it as partco round the corner do the same one for just under £40
