Another bike thread...

Looks cool. 6061 frame, nice and light, decent enough RS fork, Tektro brakes are pretty generic on low-mid priced bikes. They do the job, but you may want to upgrade sometime (cheap enough to do). The drive train isnt anything amazing, but if you just want something to ride around on a bit, you could do a lot worse.

i've also been looking at a gt in halfords for 300 notes. has the same forks but has deore gears which i assume are better? i have no idea about other specs as i can't find it online...... :p
 
My limited knowledge

Shimano Gears from worst to best:

Budget 8speed

Tourney
Altus
Acera
Alivio - Decent quality

9 speed

Deore - Good budget groupset. Shifting is rough but reliable
LX - Excellent value for money - new rear mech is the old XT
Hone - LX, but black...for a while...then silver.
XT - Most common - performance close to XTR
Saint - Freeride specific - Tough
XTR - for rich people and racers. The best of the range. very crisp shifting.

Sram -

3.0 > cheapest
SX 4.0
SX 5
X7
X9 >XT
X.0 > XTR beater?

Sram Shifters

Attack - somewhere between LX and XT
Rocket - Alu body version of Attack - slightly better shifting

Thanks for the list weescott :D I'm now thinking that i'd be better off with the Rincon, it's got the Alivio rear mech. Anyone know how much/ what year the rockshox fork on it is though (is it possible that it will be a 2005?). The 2003 judy tt weights 5lb's, is this heavy for a fork?

They both have pretty much the same frame (well weight wise). Not sure about which forks are better. Although the CW has a better gears and shifter. Could someone help me with this choice.
