Another bizarre "equality" case

I think in summary, it's such an intangible and complex job to have in terms of what makes 'success' - ie clearly there was something about Clarkson and co on Top Gear that made them wildly popular and about Chris Evans and co that meant it just didn't work. I am fairly confident however, that if Chris Evans had been female, there would have been every excuse made of sexism etc

Much like if Ronaldo joins a football team or Tom Cruise plays a part in a film, there really is no bearing on how the previous person's salary should affect them.

The idea that either their salaries or their employment prospects should be affected by how they developed genitals is ridiculous, yet it appears to be the world today...

I for one believe firmly in equality, not discrimination - it's just bizarre how discriminatory the gender equality policies have become....

Derbyshire - yes my first thought was they're cutting women who might make claims .. but the show, caught it occassionally (exclusively on BBCNews ?) is just a round-up of topics from her radio(5?) show, and I'd had thought a radio programme/podcast could be just as effective.

On r5, if kermode is not doing the film show, I don't bother to listen - the male/female duo who stand in are just inane, wonder if the viewing stats, their salaries, reflect that opinion.

Are they making cuts to finance claims by other women.

the sarah montegue differential -
When presenting the Today programme, she discovered that she was being paid less than her co-hosts after the BBC published a list of its high-earners. The list showed that John Humphrys earned between £600,000 and £649,000, Nick Robinson £250,000 to £299,000, Mishal Husain £200,000 to £249,000 and Justin Webb £150,000 to £199,999. Montague earned £133,000 per year.
