Hi,

Since you lovely folks helped me so well for my media PC build I thought I would ask your opinions on my next build!

Im planning to replace my now quite old PC with a new one to last me a good few years. I will use it for gaming.

Here is what I have so far:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 WindForce 3x OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GV-N770OC-2GD) £263.99
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £259.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £149.99
1 x Corsair Obsidian 750D Full Tower Case - Black (CC-9011035-WW) £134.99
1 x Silverstone Strider Gold Evolution 750w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply (ST75F-G) £129.95
1 x Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CW-9060009-WW) £99.95
1 x Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (BLT2CP4G3D1869DT2TXOBCEU) (Orange & Blue Activity LEDs) **WORLD FIRST** £89.99
Total : £1,143.84 (includes shipping : £12.50).

Any suggestions for improvements/alternatives or cheaper alternatives to get the price down?

I will be using my current SSD and hard drive as they are relatively new.

Thanks!

Ive read the new ATI cards run quite hot and high wattage, this true? Are they that much better than the nvidia alternatives?

Also that bundle with the CPU and cooler is the same price as buying them separate - a bit strange!

Is there an aircooler that is significantly better than the corsair H100i?

Also I need a modular PSU to help with cable management.

That board does look nice indeed!

So this is what I have so far:

The 280X doesn't run hot/noisy. You're thinking of the 290/290x (which isn't that bad).

The 280X has more memory and bandwidth than the 770, and overclocked it's faster overall.

High end air coolers are very good and very quiet, but they're enormous.
