Currently have a Samsung UE40J5100AK in the bedroom and compared to my main TV which is 4K the picture on the Samsung does not compare well nor for that matter does do well against a 32" Samsung. Colours are not particularly sharp. So looking to buy something around the 43" which is about as much space as I have. Does not need to be smart as I tend to use Chromecast but 4K is a must. Would like any suggestions to be sold in the high street to enable me to look before buying probably elsewhere.
I think around £500 is all I would wish to spend but might push it a little further.

Hi Kronos
4k or UHD,40/42" too small and will you be viewing the Television straight on/centre ?

I won't say go out and buy the Television that I have but I can give you the name and model number and the colour settings that I use for it so you can judge it for yourself if you want.

will take you about Ten minutes to adjust from the shops Television" shop display " settings.

I just bought a 43" lg 750v. I got john lewis to price match some other shop so i got it for £649 as its £699.

Its an absolute cracker. I think the 2nd best 43inch you can buy. With the best being a 40" 9 series samsung for £1300. 3 inches smaller and double the price.

There are cheaper sets but they dont have the features or picture quality of this set.

Its not 10bit however it is 8 bit plus fcr or something so its better than standard 8 bit only.

Its also a glass panel. Cheaper sets are plastic. So its heavier but the build quality and picture are fantastic.

The 3 sets in my home are now.

55" sony w809c
50" panasonic gt50
43" lg uh750v

All of them top end sets. I only just got the lg today. So i can do a more thorough review in a couple of weeks but so far ive been overly impressed

Definitely UHD and as I am looking for suggestions name and model number would be useful.

Will have a look at this cheers.

uh750V should be a good choice for bedroom as it is an IPS screen with wide viewing angles,
not sure what the difference between this and lower uh661 (also ips) £500 is.
Personally only buy IPS until oled more affordable.

Even though 8 bit HDR, does not mean it has not got the brightness range or color palette of a 10bit, just has 4x less granularity - I do not think LG make a 10bit IPS, they are only VA with the narrower viewing angles (see top end samsung VA review )

I compared both and the 750v has superior technology and local dimming as well as a host of other enhancements.

Id say both are cracking sets. LG are now a big contender in the market. The viewing angles are ridiculous. The tv looks perfect from any angle

I am going to wander around Edinburgh and have a look at my shortlist.
SAMSUNG UE43KU6400
SAMSUNG UE43KU6500
SAMSUNG UE43KU6000
SONY BRAVIA KD43X8305C
Sony Bravia 43WD756BU
LG 43UH661V

Out of all those i wouldnt touch sony. Id also probably go for the LG. They seem to be offering top quality at a majorly reduced price from samsung.

Samsung 6 series sets that are 4k arent that good

Just bumping this thread as I'm looking at the LG 43UH750v. Are the feet adjustable? As in can they be moved closer to the centre of the TV, rather than be stuck at the ends? I've seen it mentioned that they are adjustable but wasn't sure if they just swivelled or could be moved. If not, could anyone who has one be able to tell me the distance between both feet?

I'm sure I threw my feet in the bin and wall mounted mine. I could have a look under the tv but I don't think they would move around a lot. Also I don't think you could move them to the centre would make the tv less stable.

All mine are wall mounted and you certainly cannot move the feet on the ones that had two feet. I think they position where they are for stability.

Thanks, thought that may be the case. Ideally I want to place the TV on top of the soundbase I have, a Sony HT-XT1. Its 72cm wide, so if it's not too much trouble, could you measure the distance between the holes for where the 2 feet would go? Would be appreciated if you could. Other options would be to put the TV either in front or behind the soundbase or wall mount it, which to be honest I'd rather avoid.

Another option would be to go for a 43UH661v. Has a central stand but it's a bit of a downgrade.

personally i would stay away from lg. i have a LG 43UF640V 4k tv in the living room and tbh the picture quality isn't that great, the blank level isn't a deep black.

i have a Philips 40PUT6400 4K UltraHD Android TV in my bedroom and tbh the picture quality is much better and the blank level is much deep black. which surprised me as it's cheaper

Just seen that you can get pedestal stands with the Vesa mounts so wouldn't have to worry about where the feet are.

i taken my 10 month old Philips 40put6400 back to argos today due to software issues since day 1 and Philips was taking way to long to fix it, picture quality was great tho. anyway argos taken it back and i got a philips 43pus6401, the picture quality is amazing and as a lot of features like 4:4:4, hdr, Ambilight + hue, etc. as no software issue unlike the my previous one.

i recommend a philips 43pus6401, more so as it's on sale at the moment.
