Another cracking EU proposal regarding motoring...

There's a lot of things in life we don't "need". Shall we ban them all?

What about people who buy performance cars for use on the track?

(Although Im in agreement about 4x4s, hate the things a lot of the time ;))

Well as 99% of cars around now can > 100MPH then thats a lot of cars to ban :p

Not a hope in hell tbh :D

And if its just new cars, people will buy old cars. lol

Never going to happen. Thanks Germany!

Still, I guess it could possibly end up with the EU requiring limiters like Japan, but I guess its far more likely to just get thrown out completely. I mean, it doesn't even make any sense. Actually, it would probably be quite funny in that it would be the only case in which an old Corsa might possibly be the fastest thing on the road

tbh if its electric limiters and we are allowed to then do 100mph, then ill be happy, the main issue regarding lower top speed cars is the inherrent lack of any power to accelerate, which i feel is more dangerous than 3 figure speeds

They just tried this with bikes, but it was a tad more dangerous lol would ease off the power if you went over 80 or 90 or something like that lol and was scrapped.

To me that statement says that cars are going to be lighter to save fuel which means that A and B roads could be great as any muppet can do three figure speeds on a motorway.

I'm not at all for the proposal, don't get me wrong, but why is it so ridiculous? He has a point? Do we need cars that can exceed 100mph, afterall, it's illegal to drive above 70.

The planet is, after all, far more important than our penis extensions :)

Ant

So this guys logic is that cars are made heavy to crash at high speeds. So why does a Land Rover (Which isn't a fast car) weigh more then a Lotus Elise.

It seems to me the EU is a dumping ground for unrealistic and not very bright politicians (is Neil Kinnock still their?)

Why do we need 6" knives in the kitchen when a 2" blade will be sufficient for everyday use and why should we be allowed to buy more than one? That way, less knives on the loose and less people get stabbed.

The limit here maybe 70 and an antiquated fossil of a time when stopping from 70mph was an achievement in itself. Other countries do not fully restrict this. Also, I am looking forward to hooning around the nurburgring later this year. Yeah, I know "OMG *** Eco vANDALLLLLLZZZZ!!!1111one" - tough tbh. I enjoy driving and why should I be restricted? Once you remove freedom of choice, you may as well have let the Nazii's march right on in, donned your leather shorts and bend over for uncle Adolph.

This LibDem guy is a 'tard anyway, "Heavier cars pollute more when they go quick..." Nice, have a check on the weight of the Ariel Atom and what sort of speeds that does!

someone should take this guy round a track in an atom/supercar of some description, see if hes anti speed then, and if he still is, maybe he'll have a heart attack on the way round, that'll shut him up :p

ha ha, plus those things to 40+MPG don't they? (Atom that is)? And an awesome car to boot

As has been stated over and over again - why worry/complain/moan about this? The Germans will shoot it down so damn quickly....

A complete non-issue.

1. His reasoning is wrong, top speed an weight are completely unrelated.
2. He can go **** himself.
3. Everyone will do what FIAT do with their hatchbacks, declare the top speed to be 90mph regardless of what the car does.

Err, autobahn? Trackdays? What a waste of everyones time this bill is.

Also, I can't think of any cars that won't do a ton these days, unless it's one of those electric ones.

Is it me or is the EU trying to send us all back in time to the dark ages? It's the 21st century, we should all be zooming along the motorway at over 100 by now!
