when you say shopping list, you mean bullet point-y? I'm not really sure how to list my skills without bullet points, and I've already tried combining them to make the list smaller

I was meaning that there are a few of your bullets that could be condensed into one bullet, albeit a sentence rather than a statement, it's a bit more reader friendly.

I've got "writing Transport Assessments..." which gets submitted to the council, which i do in my current job.
I also have "Provide highways advice to local planning authorities on strategic planning applications by drafting consultation responses" i.e Review Transport Assessments, which is what I did in the old job (i.e. the reverse). I'm not sure if I should have both?

That one is maybe relevant, I was thinking more along the lines of
Meeting clients
Meeting highway people
Meeting Joe bolgs
Might be better condensed into something like 'attending and hosting meetings with stakeholders at all levels, taking ownership of issues relevant to (my job) and following up any questions raised to completion'.
Ok that's vague so you'll need to add your specifics to that.

I really wouldn't do this unless you're perhaps a researcher with a bunch of publications or something along those lines
2 pages should be fine for most people
definitely do not remove the education section, that is madness for anyone with a degree or other qualifications/certifications
personal/mission statement is just waffle - you can get rid of that if you're short on space
skills and capabilities is potentially redundant too - you can highlight your abilities when listing your employment and what you did there, other skills that you've not gained professionally or through formal education probably shouldn't be so prominent... i.e. if you can code Java or C++ but have not done it professionally it doesn't carry as much weight

Reading the skills section I got bored has to be a better way of presenting it surely.
Also you don't need to put 'Curriculum Vitae' at the top - everyone knows what the document is
ditto to 'references available on request' it is completely redundant
frankly I think that layout is guff and the skills looks like you're trying too hard to think of things to say... some of them aren't even skills... why not just highlight your skills in the employment section

Bullet points are often used to make a list more attractive to read - you have a massive amount of them and this negates much of their efficacy: cut them down or merge some together.
The bullet-pointed sections about responsibilities (under Employment History) should be made into prose.
No offence meant, but if this is your standard of written English you need an editor to make it perfect - there are many inconsistencies and faults. It would take about an hour of work to polish it. Perhaps two. Overall, though, I've seen much worse so it's a good start!

Personally I try stick to one page, definitely don't want to go over 2 pages. I also binned my education section - With a decade of work experience I felt at this point it was just fluff.

My thoughts based on your current CV (bear in mind my feedback on all CVs is typically critical i.e. highlighting things that can be improved so don't take it to heart!):
-Condense the skills section, people will only skim that bit as it has too many individual lines.
-Skills section reads like a cut-and-paste from a job description in places e.g. the "Attend meetings...." lines (see also point above - could easily be merged together). That isn't a skill, it is a duty/responsibility.
-To be honest I would consider reworking the whole section, move some of the items out into your employment history where relevant (i.e. experience gained while working) and keep the focus on skills e.g. the bits relating to software, legislation etc relevant to your industry. Probably some of that stuff you mention is in demand but it is all buried in the bullet haystack so it won't stand out i.e. if I want someone with skill/experience in XYZ I may give up before finding it in the current section compared to if it was more focussed and succinct.
-In your employment history consider briefly highlighting the outcome (assuming positive!) of some of your experiences e.g. what deals can you attribute to the Business Development activities, have any of the things you have written lead to anything etc?

-What A-level grades did you get? The fact you have omitted them despite citing GCSE grades immediately sets alarm bells ringing for me as to whether they are in keeping with your otherwise decent academic background. If they aren't great then fair enough but if they are all at grade C and above then I would state this to avoid annoying people like me drawing the wrong conclusions.

6. My 2 careers taking up most of the space detailing specialist skills and different job roles as and when I have been promoted and changed branch through the military and Hostile Environment close Protection.

I am now looking to move job a bit more actively so I've dug up my old thread. I've changed the CV based on the constructive comments but I now feel it is very wordy. What do you think now??
