Another Dban Q

Would it make a difference when using dban to have a fast pc or slow pc?

Im using an old Pentium 3 900mhz or something wth 512mb ram.
Its taken me 4 days to do ONLY 2 passes.

I dont want to use my main rig to do the wipe as I wont have anything to game on.

Something not right :confused:

How long does it normally take you all?

At work we run around 30x160GB HDDs through in about 2-3days, as one run. Not 30 seperate runs

That is running on a Core 2 Duo 1.86Ghz with 2GB RAM.

Thats on US DoD 7 pass.

What size of drive is it that you are wiping? That does seem quite slow..

ah, guess I should use my i7 overnight then. Ringiho that is fast.

Currently wiping a 320gb WD (the fastest IDE) version. sloooooooow

Its probably an ancient ATA33 thing, slow as hell.

Agreed, no way it should take that long. I was using an Athon XP 2600+ to wipe drives and it was considerably faster than that

Most likely the old motherboard is only ATA33. Forgot about that. Thanks
