another DLC annoyance

I just want to point out (as in my first post) IW did NOT say "just after release".

The whole DLC discussion has been done to death over the last couple of years, face it, it's a part of gaming now and the future.
CoD:W@W map pack 1 has now sold over 2 million copies, no developer is going to shy away from potential sales figure like that!

There is also the possibility that they couldn't fit it on the disc? I know its a slim one, but you never know.

The maps are actually quite large (can be up to 150-200MB-ish if they use all new textures), so it wouldn't be the biggest surprise if that was the case.

New game modes are always going to be tiny like that, code is a lot smaller than new game assets.

My point would be that those game modes would have been done along with the full release anyway. They just seperated it off and sold it on. For such a small game add on it could easily have been included when you consider how quickly it came out and the time it takes for DLC to pass certification.

I had no idea about when it came out, but if it was very soon then they probably were just being thieving scroats :p

Map packs 6 months after realease is acceptable if the game itself has enough maps.
Releasing them right after the game is taking the ****

Another annoyance is that after you console dies and you get a new one you have to download everything again, with all the patches, map packs and updates that is annoying beyond belief.

No you don't, just use your old hard drive on a core console.

Incorrect.

You do if you want to use the content off line on a new console and if they have transferred the licenses you have to go through all of your downloads and download them again to the new console. Otherwise they won't work offline.

I can't even get that far because the idiots still haven't transferred my licenses so I can't use my content at all unless I'm connected to the net. They have asked for another month to sort it out.

I dunno if you can, but i also think Sony as you to send the HDD in with the machine. I may be wrong though.

That's a different issue. What I said was right :p

Can you not plug and play with the PS3 hard drive too?
Nope, I can safely say this. After my PS3 died I took all the save data off onto my PSP then took my 200GB drive out of my dead PS3 and stuck it in the other one in the house. The data on the hard drive has to match the PS3's serial number, after the transfer it asks you to format the drive and bye bye goes everything :(
