Another eBay Problem

I sold an Ipod Mini on eBay a few weeks back to some guy with a zero rating. Now the Ipod needed its Hard Drive replacing. So it was sold in the condition that it was not working and maybe useful as spares etc. SOme of you may remember my thread about Apple wanting to charge over £100.00 to look at it :( thats before any parts

After numerous promises of PayPal, cheque, money in the bank etc nothing came of it so I relisted. Again under the proviso it wasnt working, no warranty etc. Some guy in Holland purchased it. Paid straight away, sent the next day via AirMail and he left positive Feedback to say good transaction etc.

Now the first guy goes and leaves me negative feedback

Rip Off Merchant DON'T TRUST Ipod never sent only empty box RIPPER RIPPER !!!!!

Now he has a feedback rating of -4 as he has done this on all the auctions he has bid on and never paid. Where do I stand with eBay about getting feedback removed. I have replied to his feedback refering to the other guy who purchased and left me positive feedback.

I am really annoyed as it only takes one guy to make you look bad on eBay.

Is there anything I can do or any suggestions ?

I personally wouldn't worrry.

If i was looking to buy something off you and saw that that was the only negative feedback, I would assume some nigerian had tried to buy something off you. Then after seeing the feedback of the buyer, would have put 2 and 2 together.

you stand with ebay as able to get that feedback removed. i had feedback simerlarly removed. i dont use ebay nemore tho cos my account and my paypal account got closed for totally unfair reasons. still in the end i got my money off'v the buyer and they got their product. and paypal can go whistle if they think im paying them what i apparently 'owe' them.

If the guy is proven to be a non paying bidder then that feedback will be removed. Afterall, how can he comment on the transaction if he didn't pay? Go via the help pages and report the guy to ebay. If he is on -4 its pretty obvious its a malicious account created to cause people agro.

Same happened to me, and my dispute to get it removed failed, i was deeply hurt as i love eBay

The basicly said it won't harm my feedback and these things happen, meh

Depends on what mood eBay is in on that day.
Last year I got hit by an auction wrecker. He bid for an item and won it, then left me negative feedback about two minutes after the auction ended. I reported him to eBay and their response was "it's not our policy to get involved in feedback disputes".

YOu really all who use Ebay should use the tools available to you, like only allow bids from the country you ship to, only allow bidders with "X" amount of feedback. only allow bidders with paypal etc etc, i have now started using this sort of system and not had any problem with silly bidders as they cannot physically bid on my items, just blocks them.

As for getting your feedback back to normal, you can always buy a load of them 1p items and automatically get your feedback up to normal 100%.

I know the grief you feel i have had it in the past, but like i said, look at the tools available to you and things should be better from now on

I do exactly that, and have done for a long time. It's not foolproof though, as it can't block auction wreckers or idiots.

Surely that's mathematically impossible.

I dont see why, thats why some people do the 1p auctions to increase theres and your feedback rating %. You buy something for 1p, you pay, they send it to you ie: PDF. Card trick book, they send it to you by email, you leave them feedback and they do the same ?

I have seen this done many times, a lot of "new" users do it so they have some feedback to begin with.

Think about it, once you lose your 100% rating it can't be retrieved (unless negative ratings are removed). No matter how many "1p" items you buy, once you get a negative you can never have 100% again.

oh, perhaps i am mistaken then. I thought it eventually went back up, slowly, but i thought it did.

My mistake, learn something new everyday.

Anyhow, im on 99.1% so im fairly happy with that.

It will slowly go back up, but it cannot hit 100% (because if you have any negative feedback, then you don't have a 100% positive record).
