Another ebay thread

Next time don't bother messaging anybody, neither the seller or eBay. Just open a case and let eBay do the rest. It saves a whole lot of grief.
ebay ask that you try and sort it out, hence the "1 message" but I made the mistake of back-and-forth for over 2 weeks, then a fortnight away, by which time it was too late for ebay to help.
First 'spilt milk' bad transaction on ebay in over 25 years but one I will learn from.

Exactly. I don’t know where this myth has popped up with online sales that warranties are transferable.

It’s usually only with specific products like AppleCare.

So it's even worse than not supplying the paperwork... you're saying he fraudulently advertised it as:
> STILL HAS THE REMAINDER OF THE MANURACTURES 3 YEAR WARRANTY REMAINING

It completely depends on the company/product in question to be honest. I can't see why a warranty shouldn't be transferrable, and I'm surprised there isn't some legislation in place to make it so, after all, why does it being 2nd hand make a difference if it breaks after 2 months from the original purchase?

I take it as a reasonable indicator of how good a company's customer service is likely to be should I need it, and it certainly factors into my decision making process when comparing products (alongside the impact on resell value).
