Two Irishmen were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up.

A blonde walks by and asked them what they were doing.
Paddy replied, 'We're supposed to be finding the ****'n height of this flagpole, but we don't have a ****'n ladder.'
The blonde took out an adjustable spanner from her bag, loosened a few bolts and laid the flagpole down.

She got a tape measure out of her pocket, took a few measurements, and announced that it was 18 feet 6 inches...

Then, she walked off.

Mick said to Paddy, 'Isn't that just like a blonde! We
Need the ****'n height and she gives us the ****'n length..'

Why would a blonde carry a tape measure and spanner in her bag and pocket?

Was she a construction worker?

Reasonable joke but deffinaltey some inaccuracies with regards to the story.
I mean...what was she even doing out of the kitchen?

Also, two Irishmen are mentioned throughout....but no mention of any alcoholic beverages?

Makes me think the OP made the whole thing up!

I'm glad she was there to be honest, the idea of someone leaning a ladder against a flagpole sounds very unsafe to me. They'd be much better off using a scaffolding tower or a cherry picker.

PK!

Or a hard hat and steel toed boots?

If she hasnt got any steel toed boots, where can she get a pair as I have never seen female steel toed boots ? Do they have high heels ?

Also she is very lucky, as taking down a flagpole by yourself is not recommended. She should read the H&S act 1978 before she does anything foolish like this again.

More importantly was the Change Management Advisory Board advised of the changes to the flagpole? Was there a scheduled change window, and was the proper plan of action implemented? Were there any problems with the implementation?

Christ... what has this company done to me? Good joke OP :)

I'm assuming that they had a tape measure, because it only mentions they don't have a ladder and how else would they measure it.

In which case, they could have lined up 6" or so of the tape measure, and walked back until the 6" was the same as the height of the pole. Measure the distance to the pole from that point, minus 6" and that will be the height of the pole.

Alternatively, if it was sunny, they could have measured the shadow and the shadow of one of them (with a known height) and by using the ratio worked out the height of the tree.

Or, if they had a protractor they could do a bit of simple trigonometry and work it out that way.

Stupid Irish people.
