Another gaming laptop advice thread!

I really am stretching my budget going up to £1500 so I'm either P35x or G72. Latter has the edge due to the bigger screen which will be beneficial for when I work from home (I'm a sql developer) so need the bigger screen.

Just listed my Alienware 14 on eBay so depending how much that goes for will depend on which laptop I get :)

Just noticed the prices some alienwares are going for on eBay which are a lesser spec than mine. I could be on for increasing my budget from £1500 :)

No mate it all hinges on what I get for my A14. I could put the extra cash on my credit card but tbh I paid off 8k of debt off cards when I moved house last year and I like being debt free :)

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm probably going to go with my original choice of GT72 with the 980m. I'll be upgrading again in 3 years max so that should keep me happy. It can be had for around £1400. I want to buy a new 360 pad and a few games so will spend under my budget to have a few pennies left over :) My auction for my A14 finishes tonight so will definitely make a decision before the weekend is over :)

Yeah sounds like a plan. Do you know if you can replace the DVD drive on the GT72 with a caddy to install another HDD? Never replaced a HDD on a laptop before but built many pc's so I guess it's straightforward :)

Ok so definitely decided on the GT72. Now I need to decide between the 602 or 806 model. The latter I can get for £1649 elsewhere.

Well I'm thinking 806 for the extra outlay as it has double the ram. Slightly better cpu, more ssd space and a BR drive.

So cooling mats. I had a coolermaster one for my alienware and after some comments in a previous thread I'm now wondering are they really beneficial. I thought my CM one was but I guess opinions vary. I'm also after a decent laptop bag. Don't want to pay the earth. Think I paid £20 for the one I kept my previous lappy in but that won't cut the mustard with this bigger beast on the way.
