Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a small hard-drive for backup.

Would you have to do that raid crap? Or will it work fine without? Because I don't understand it :p

Thanks

Don't need raid at all. Just need free IDE or SATA port, or you could go external if u got usb. You haven't said what system u got atm.

System is new so u can go for 80gb sata and install internally or go for an external usb 2.0 hdd if its purely for backups. That way its only spinning when its needed.

Less gb per £ on the smaller drives, somewhere in the 200 - 300gb range will be more gb per £.

Just to point that out. Find those 80gb totally pointless unless you have a strict budget.

Not really under strict budget.

Aye, pointless unless portable drive where masses of data isn't required.. Or Windows 9x install, or 2000/XP boot drive.

"small drive for backup" depends how much you want to backup, if you have 300GB of data that needs to be backed up a 80GB is unsuitable. 160GB is only a tenner more.
