Another identify this bug thread

Im no expert but im going to go with . . . . Its a caterpillar (most likely of the moth variety).

That or a queen wasp. I should know my dad eats them for a living.

I remember reading somewhere that those things do actually travel in groups of around 60, favourite hiding places include (and not limited to):-

Curtains
Pillows
Duvets
Ear canals

I would check if I were thee

Ooo yeah I read that too but you missed off underwear from the list. Scary stuff :(.

There's a YouTube vid of a pack of them devouring a cow in its sleep :eek:.
 
Looks very similar to the first Lymantriidae moth caterpillar in cosimos link. It got hoovered because as said above some of them sting and i didnt fancy getting stung!
 
Net curtain moth caterpillar - Quite rare now as most net curtains have been sucked up in to vacuums cleaners.

Also think they are protected and it's a £1000 fine for killing one - should edit your picture if I were you :)
