Hello all,

Another IR from me, from the same place as last time, little bit more/better PP'ing on this one, and it's been cropped properly, think I prefer this one.

Might go back and do the other. :)

Enjoy! C&C welcome :)

EDIT: Looking at it I think the trees are a little overblow!

BAH!

Great shot, I love the look a long exposure gives to the clouds too. I'd personally chop a tiny bit off the top, maybe 30 pixels max but that's just a personal preference really.

Did you use a polariser with this shot and, heck, do they even work properly with IR light?

Hmm, nice idea, but I think where there's not much of the water the sky takes priority here :) Thanks for the input.

No I didn't, just the way I processed it, think it looks better the way it does than one colour all across the sky.

And I haven't a clue if it would work though, would be such a pain in the arse I would imagine.

Right, dont get me wrong the IR stuff you guys are posting are pretty good but not my cup of tea. What exactly is it that draws you to taking IR photos? Whats the thing that you like about them?

I personaly wouldnt spend money to achieve these sort of photos, just curious thats all.:)

The trees are ok to me btw. To be honest all trees and grass seem like spring blossom.

It's a challenge :)

IR pictures are harder to take than normal pictures, more post processing work, more effort overall, so the end result is more rewarding than I get out of a normal picture.

When I get home I'll post the none IR version of the above and see what you think...see which you prefer :)

The lens, I was going to buy that anyway, and the filter is about £20 and I already had a tripod :)

For me it's the creativity of IR that I like, it's being able to turn an everyday boring view and turn it into an other worldly surrealistic scene...

BTW I like the OP's shot the only critisism is the blurred clouds. I know that long exposures are common for IR but it does take something away from the shot.

Good question. For me, its all about taking a picture of a scene thats there, but you can't see it with out feeble human eyes. Its like im delving into a parallel fairytale world where things arn't as boring and expected as the real world.

I was inspired by an IR shot on Deviantart, which was just a simple country land with a row of trees along it. If this had been shot normally, it would have been a good, but not hugely interesting shot. In IR, it made it a road leading deeper into this fairytale world. I wanted to know where it went.

Maybe my immagination is too wild, but it takes me back to being a kid, and exploring a new way of seeing things. Oh, and its a fine excuse for taking pictures on sunny days, where the lighting would ususally be too harsh. :)

Would completely agree with all of that :)

I just love looking at IR, like MK says, a world that's there but cannot be seen!
