Far too many of these, but I thought that this was possibly interesting food for thought:

BBC said:
Mercury affects the behaviour of white ibises by "turning them homosexual", with higher doses resulting in males being more likely to pair with males.

So the solution to overpopulation is to introduce mercury into the water supply so everyone starts homobumming, bringing down the birth rate? :D

Seriously though, maybe it could suggest that some people aren't necessarily "born" gay, and that it's a result of medical/chemical changes in the body. Wait til the crazies hear about this and start calling for investment into a "cure", now...

lol @ Homobumming.

Thing is though it wont solve jack.

Homos are so selfish that they want to be gay AND have kids too. So they just get someone else to knock out a sprog for them, ruining the chances in life for the poor kid.

When I was a kid, my best friend and I found a few grams of mercury in the grounds of an empty house, that had obviously come from a broken thermometer or such. Being nine, we didn't know it was mercury, and though it was some alien substance - like the spaceship in Flight of the Navigator. (If Terminator 2 had been released at the time, we may well have been more scared.)

We played with the mercury for an hour or two, before reporting it to some adults and having it confiscated.

Neither of us turned out gay... :-S

Is it just me, or are there more threads popping up regarding homosex than normal in GD?

Think I might have kickstarted it.

Or maybe they're born with the physiological disposition towards such chemical irregularities? The fact that homosexuality *may* be induced chemically, if anything, verifies a nature over nurture predilectation, doesn't it?

Is that true?

Is that true?

I played with mercury when younger as well, but I've not felt the need to experience the joys of chocolate donut punching with other men yet.

Might explain my slight scatter-brained mentality though :)

@Deadbeat - indeed, seems to suggest that it can be congenital or develop at a later date in certain circumstances.

I wasn't looking to start an OMG gay-bashing thread btw, just found it interesting :)

Yes, it will be a result of changes in the body from birth, unless you found girls sexually attractive at age 5...? :p

How ridiculous.

I forgot how long ago it was when I gave you a week, tops. Might be coming up to a week, why don't you swan on over to Speaker's corner and share some of your interesting world views?

*Concentrated* mercury into a water supply? Oh boy.

PS: Surely overpopulation can be resolved with striking a deal with KFC? :D
