Had another little jaunt to the Mach loop on Thursday and Friday.

Bit light on planes unfortunately with just the ubiquitous Hawks and a sole Tornado doing a couple of passes. Weather was good at Cad West on Thursday but closed in at Bwlch in the early afternoon so we came down.

Still good for a laugh and you can't win them all. A few snaps for anyone interested :)

Yeah it's one of these things that's on my 'to do' list. I guess the potential of driving up there and seeing nothing or just a few Hawks is something else that put's me off.

Yeah that is always a risk which is why going for at least a couple of days is best to maximise the chances. Campsite is only 7 quid a night though.

I guess that' not too bad! Probably is I don't have a tent lol :) I'd have to kip in the car or borrow one etc.

It's definitely on my to do list but not sure when tbh!

Makes me feel old - I remember when the campsites around that part of the world were 50p a night during the week and £1 a night at the weekend :O

some good shots there well done, it been on my list to get up there but something all ways crop's up. there is a mach loop time table for each month to check out :

http://machloop.co.uk/

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/operational-low-flying-training-timetable

i will get there some time :)

It's a shame they don't specify what aircraft should be flying lol... Ignoring the potential security implications, it would be a lot more popular!

Do people camp out at the other training spots further north?

I've got some time off soon but they haven't updated the website timetable for the week I've got off :/

I've got the Friday off before too on the 17th and that's in the timetable but I've got a wedding to go to the next day so :|

I went up there beginning of June for Monday/tuesday (actually drove up sunday afternoon and returned wednesday morning). Weather was horrid, utterly horrid and there was a no fly on Cad east/west so only any point being at bwich. I had one single pass on the tuesday!

That said, I would and will do it again as soon as I can. The scenery is fantastic, the people you meet on the hill are properly nice too, just need a few more planes next time...

I'm from just down the road to you Phal, its a fair drive but even without the planes the views are enough to make it worth the trip.

My only pass

You mean the official sortie schedule?

Take it with a very large pinch of salt - they usually don't stick to it and it's just pot luck.
