another m17x question

I have almost convinced myself to click buy on an alienware m17x lappy, i have opted to upgrade the graphics card to the 6990 also the display/screen to the 1080 3d one and lastly the killer network card everything else i have left as stock. I need an all round machine, games, adobe after effects etc is there anything else i should upgrade or even not upgrade. The price is £1660. Sorry for questions i need to get it right first time for the money.
 
RAM, if your splashing out on everything else, get 8GB RAM, unless its standard :p.

Also an SSD if possible, and if within your budget.
 
Comes with 4 gig however if you want 8 gig its another £130 i figured this would be cheaper to upgrade myself at a later date, same with an ssd drive.
 
The 17xr3 has 4 ram slots, order it with 4gb and drop in 8gb on the cheap for a cool 12 gig.

Just a light warning, if the increase in size isn't a problem you may want to go with the m18x, far more solid build.
 
Thing is l have not seen the 18x on dells website? Am i missing something.


Ok i found it,the thing is i would be stepping out of my financial comfort zone, the stock 18x is quite basic imo by the time i tweaked the bits i would not be able to afford it. Do you know how many hd bays in the 17x
