Another Problem Neighbour Thread

You need to keep badgering the council and the noise environment place you mentioned, ring every day, if you bug them enough like this guys bugging you, they'll act.

Seriously, I have seen a few cases of this in out street and everyone starts with the council, then the mp, then some do go to the papers. But to be honest if the people in the house/flat are paying the rent on time then nothing will happen as the people who can do something about it just dont care enough.

It is sad when the person making the noise is surronded by people who just close the double glazzed windows as they dont want to get involved incase something happens to them.

the only way i have seen all 3 cases of this in my street is for the people in the street to do something, not violent or destructive, but if they like loud music, wait till they go to bed, get your car and blast away. If they live next door, get some power tools at 4am, see how they like it. One neibough in out street made a point of waiting till the noise making gits where in bed on saturday morning and invited as many kids to his garden to play with his kids as he could, the noise was horrid, but it did the trick.

If you wait for someone else to sort it, your going to get nothing done. IMO.

A trick people round here sometimes do is to call the police while he is making the noise, but dont complain about the noise itself, tell them there is a disturbance and you think you can hear fighting, they tend to arrive pretty quick :D

Mention FIREARM too, see how fast they come.....

I would keep logging the disturbance and also write some comment on each occasion as to how it is affecting you.
The council noise pollution team are neglecting their responsibility if they don't follow it up. Write the NPT letters asking why they are not following it up and ask for written response. If they continue to fail to respond then talk to the CAB or get advice from your solicitor.

The NPT should first write the neighbours a letter that there has been a complaint. If you continue to report it they should then visit you when the noise takes place to monitor how loud it is from your property. They would probably visit your neighbour next and explain to warn them if it is warranted. If they have to visit a few times then they should take enforcement action against your neighbours. This would mean that they could face a £5000 fine and confiscation of their equipment if they trouble you again and it is witnessed. If the noise is occurring outside the NPT working hours they should provide you with recording equipment
Also if it happens in the early hours on a weekend, the NPT should have a number you can call at any time of the night and they can pay them a visit then.

There are less formal ways to handle this through official mediators which can sometimes work.

Don't forget to keep logging when it starts, finishes and how it affects you. I've been through this kind of crap along with neighbour's dogs kept in the garden 24/7 barking and waking us up several times a night together with mindless ragga music from our moron neighbours.

I feel for you and I hope you can get this sorted.

Trouble is once you've made a complaint when you come to sell the property you have to disclose the nature of the problem to potential buyers. I say fight fire with fire. Get some really big speaks and turn them up to number 11. Speak to your other neighbours first and see what they think. Where abouts on the Cam is it?

I assume your flat has the breaker box on the ground floor? If so isolate his circuit and remove the fuse and MAKE SURE there are no cameras to see you.

Can you get hold of a sub-woofer and a low-frequency noise generator from one of the labs at Cambridge? Much fun can be had with some of the more extreme ends of low-frequency sounds.

Want him to constantly feel like emptying his bowels? Use low-frequency sounds!
Want him to have constant throbbing, feel like complete ****, headaches? Use low-frequency sounds!

Best way to get the cops involved is what I did. When you ring 'em up, just tell them you've seen young boys going in and out of the flat and heard un-natural acts being committed upstairs. Tell ALL the neighbours about this as well. Tell the cops that drugs are being dealt their and how you've seen all this and they are using the loud music to hide what's happening. Make it a proper smear campaign - mine was assisted by the fact the bitch upstairs (our pet name of the noisy neighbour we had) was having parties til 4am and drugs were involved. CLassic moment came after she'd ignored the police once and they sent some double-hard ******** copper round. He found her flat open when she'd gone to find more booze and then walked back in to see the copper. Could here him tell her that if it happened again, the stereo was going out of the window followed by her:D

Get in touch with your local councillor they will be able to put pressure on to the coucil...

Meanwhile, in the real World!

Councillors do absolutely nothing! We've been in contact with ours for years over whopping great 18-wheel artics coming down our very narrow and wholly inadequate side street and they do nothing!

living 2 doors away from chancellour nick nolan he has come over to me and complained to me one about loud music from my car shaking his windows and stuff. so from then onwards i kept the sounds turned down.

chancellors do have the power. ;)

i don;t get it in your case though, why donlt you just go down and give that guy a good slappin?
