Another problem...

Hey.

Got an Asus 4870 (Can be more specific if needed) and I'm having problems in game. I keep getting little light flashes etc, but more annoyingly I get big triangle shapes appearing.

Is this something I've done or a card failure?

(I have a screenshot that I can show, not sure how to upload)

It sounds like artifacts. Check temps of your card. Is it overclocked?

It's not overclocked. My temps around around 45°c when gaming.

Is this only hapenning in one game? What game is it?

Two games. Cross Fire (Online multiplayer) and a demo I have just downloaded called Race on or something.

Edit:

Gonna uninstall the drivers, then install them fresh, see if this works.

Could try reseating the hsf some AC paste and maybe some RAM sinks? Does sound fairly fatal though

Upload the screenshot to imageshack, then post the link in here, but as said above, could be the cards gone if its happening in other games to.

I've reinstalled the drivers. Looks ok for now.

I've contacted OC to see what they say, after I put a new fan on a hot card before and then they wouldn't accept a refund.

It looks like it was artifacts, googled it and it matches.

I'll try dusting and stuff, get the card a bit cooler. On a side note, it seems pretty heavy and is drooping slightly, could that be it?

You do have it screwed into place, don't you? Any kind of flex is bad when it comes to PCBs

Yup, all screwed in. It doesn't seem that bad looking at it again, just if you nudge it will, I've made sure the cables wont put pressure on it though and it seems ok.

Hey guys.

Just reset the defaults on CCC. Looks like this may have sorted it!

Does this make sence that it could fix it? I'd changed the Anti-Aliasing etc to the top, and now reset it.

when you say defaults do you mean the clock speeds or the AA AF etc

Scan for atifacts using GPU Tool from techpowerup (you have to go through the forum as it's beta).

I've just done it, straight away I get about 500-14000 mismatches. Going up though.

Also was getting temps of around 60°c, guessing that could be my problem?

Card just sounds like its dead.
