well, the time has come again....

ANOTHER BUILD!!!!! YAY!!!!

however, this time, parts are going be trickling in slower (for one, i dont have as much time off work at the moment, and funds are coming in from elsewhere so i can only go as fast as they come in.

I was going to wait to even start the build log, but i want to show the person who is going to own it what is going on and to also give you some tasters....

to start with the colour scheme... and one with a clue also.....

this build WILL be done by Christmas, and WILL be somewhere at i50 at the end of november/december

yeah, you guys are right....

its going to be a parvum build!!

ive met the parvum guys a couple of times, they are both cracking lads (as are their entourage) and as i really liked their cases, it was a no brainer to use their case when someone asked me to build them a computer.
Although the parvum guys havnt sponsored this build at all, they have/are helping me with a few things that will become apparent later on. So id like to thank them both!!

after a chat on facebook and me sending them some monies, i very quickly got sent this:

and after 20 minutes ended up with this:

the cases go together really well, they give you everything that is needed and even a bag of spares. As ya can see, its not quite the standard case, they did the motherboard tray in blue for me as it will compliment the build nicely and its a nice little touch imo!

ive got some other bits and bobs already for this build, but as i say, its going to be a slow one i think,

Cheers guys, il be buying a PSU for this over the next couple of days to get the braiding started.

If anyone has any 120 or 80 mm fans they don't want (preferably white and blue or gentle typhoons so I can spray them up nicely) , I have a wanted thread in the MM which ya could post in, it would help the build a bit haha

Well, i bought a PSU and some fans yesterday...

For the PSU, i went for the new RM series, i wanted to see what they were like (looks wise) and also how quiet they are. I wont know the latter till i have all the components.

I went for one that IS overkill for the build, a 750w, my reasoning? well, ya never know what ya might add later on, im glad i did the same with mine as ive put WAY more than i thought i was going to in it.
also, i might be way off the mark here, but the RM series is meant to be fanless untill under heavy load, and i figured a 750w will take the load easier than a 5 or 600w potentially making it fanless for longer?!?

The PSU does actually look quite nice, i quite like the rounded edges which i didnt think i would, one annoyance is obviously its black, another is the fan guard comes quite far out from the overall case, meaning its a VERY tight fit in the Parvum case.

It does fit though, so its not that much of an issue.

If this was my computer, this would be taken apart and sprayed white by now, and also removing the fan guard, but it looks like im going to be keeping the warranty in tact on this.... for now.

Oh, and also, now i have the PSU,THE BRAIDING CAN BEGIN!!!

i also bought some nice fans.... 6 120mm Enermax ones (2 are for another project) and 3 80m xigmatek ones...

now, spot my deliberate mistake....
...hint... this build is blue and white...

Its not a problem, already have white LED's on their way to me, they will probably be with me today!

the enermax ones really do look nice, my rubbish pictures dont do them justice. I hope they push enough though the rads to do the job they need to, if not, il have to switch to good ole gentle typhoons and a few cans of spray paint again

Well, thats my little pre bed time update (nights work) Hopefully il get some braiding done today, fit the fans, spray the radiators and see what we have later!

thanks gents, il do my best not do disappoint! i wish i could afford to do a build for myself using a parvum, ive got so many ideas that id like to do, but wouldnt feel comfortable doing for someone who is on a budget just in case i mess up haha!

Right, a bit more of an update....

I bought this from the members market, got a bit of a bargain, it might be the older style, but i prefer it in all honesty. one problem? its black?!?!?

grabbed the trusty allen keys of awesomness and a few seconds later got this

i noticed that the inside of the block was a little dirty,

I wasnt sure how to clean it, i didnt want to use harsh cleaning agents as the fins are quite deep, and id never get it out if the cleaning agent dried, so i went back to the good ole wives tale of

TOMATO SAUCE!!!

with a bit of heinz's finest, i ended up with this!

the vinegar in the sauce does a great job, and it washes of easily, i used a cotton bud on a stick thingy from the missus's make up bag to make sure i had it all out.

Now, just to sort this out!

a couple of coats of primer, a quick sand down and a coat of white, and we have this!

(ooou, whats that sneaking into the picture on the bottom right

)

put the block back together, and i got this.... Much better!

I need to do something about the screws, but im not sure what yet.....

The black screws look OK, but if it clashes with the blue maybe a blue paint job on the screw tops might work.

Also do you have a pin-out for the 24 pin on the RM series Power supplies? Thinking on buying and sleeving one myself

with all the wires being 18 awg, so it does make it a lot easier tbh (ive ran out of my own wire so i was glad to see i wont need to buy so much more!)

this is what i use for the pin out

now, the way i look at it, is from behind (so where the wires are going in) with the clips on the top, the 24 pin starss at 24 at the top left, with 1 being the bottom right.

on the RM series, it goes into a 14 and a 10pin connector at the psu end. i see them as 2 separate connectors so the 14 pin one is 14 top left, 1 bottom right and the 10 pin is 10 top left, 1 bottom right.

green is the 10 pin, red is the 14 pin.

so when i re wire them, i get wire 1 (bottom right on the 24 pin connector) and plug it into point 1 on the 14 pin connector. Pin 13 on the 24 pin connector is a double wire, one goes to pin 8 on the 14pin and the other goes to pin 6 on the green connector (the 10 pin one).

hope this helps, its hard for me to explain it to people, but it works for me like a charm and means its a very simple diagram for me to do quickly

I've got something that looks like it's going to become reality which will be an epic build, for a professional gaming clan. I've just got to keep my fingers crossed that I get the opportunity to do it for them! Things are looking positive at the moment though!

well, a little bit of an update here!

sorry for the really out of focus pics, not sure what my phone was thinking!

So, black radiators are always a problem in white builds, and white radiators are rather expensive (although, i did pick one up quite cheaply last week, but thats gone into my shinobi atm)

so, grabbed the 2 xspc 240 rads, cut out 4 sheets of cardboard and covered all of the fins ensuring any gaps were taped up! I used 1 standard yellow plug and 1 screw in one, so i can attatch some wire to it so i can spray it easier, - see, a nice little tip there for ya!

Now, its time to spray them, with radiators i tend to do the back first (the side that will be connected to your case, that you wont see) start with the primer, then once thats dry, do all the other sides, do the same with the normal spray paint. if needed, you might have to do some sanding, then re spraying, but if you build up the layers slow, and just use light sprays, it seems to work alright! both of these rads have come out fine, with no need to wet an dry!

i then give them a couple of coats of clear lacquer ti guve them a better shine and they look like ive bought them like that!

Im more than happy with the finish on them, they look really nice, and will now actually fit the build!!!

Ive also got the motherboard now, i was going to go for another haswell build, but really didnt want compromise the colour scheme on this, i checked what the gent who im building it for wanted, and he was happy as long as it would play his games and do a few bits and bobs. so this mobo, with probably a 3770k or 3570k.
