I don't think there any chance that the currant versions of the ps4 & Xbox one will play 4K Blu-rays as they don't support the new 4k Blu-ray HDCP 2.2 copy protection...

That's such a horrendous mess that publishers and even sky don't want to use it :)

Hopefully it fails and gets dropped fast and it's a massive hassle with sheers lack of backwards compatibility.

The samething happened when HD LCD TV's where first released ...;)

1000's of people bought what was called a HDready LCD TV that had no HDMI connection or didn't have the needed HDMI copy protection...;)

They used component cable right? like the original Xbox 360. I suppose the Xbox 360 didn't have HD video playback via disc due as they were pushing the HD DVD add on, wow that was a massive fail.
