Another Q6600 & IP35 Pro OC thread - Help needed

What core voltage are you running? It probably needs 1 more click to be stable. Oh and what are your temps? I can't really work it out from the 30c to tjMax

In the bios its set to 1.5225v iirc, speed fan says is anywhere between 1.44-1.46v under load, and 1.46-1.47v at idle.
Ive manually changed the TjMax to 90c using the offset adjuster, as from research thats what people say has been declared by Intel.

If screenshots would make it easier let me know. Just run another test to get temps and Prime itself crashed.

edit: temps not correct as I forgot to set the fans to high. Running test again with vcore up one notch at 1.5325v

The test at 1.5325v crashed after 12-13mins too. Temp reached a max of 70-71c and failed on core 0. PWM didnt go above 70c as far as I could see.

Any suggestions? Bit scared to keep upping the voltage on the vcore. I somehow managed to get it to 3.51GHz with a vcore of only 1.4725v set in the bios. Maybe 1.5225v is too high for my processor? Do they error if over volted or just get too hot?

I wouldn't go any higher with the CPU voltage, maybe back it down a little and try a small bump to either VTT or MCH, but most likely VTT

EDIT - you may also play with the GTL values, apparently some people have more success with 65% or even 69%

My VTT is 1.23v as with your spec, next and only step up is 1.27v, you think its safe to increase to this?

Will have a play with the GTL values and see how i get on. At 69% it still crashed prime, but thats after reducing the vcore to 1.5125v. I can tell this is going to take some time! haha

Pretty sure it was at 800mhz. Think I may have to do it in itterations instead of jumping to 3.6ghz, just need to find time to go through it all again!

Off topic, I've also noticed recently that my CPU fan speed seems to be fluctuating when the cpu is under any load, which is abit annoying as every 5 mins norton's performing background scans and the fan goes nuts.
Would that have something to do with one of these settings?
Limit CPUID MaxVal - Disabled
C1E - Auto
Execute Disable Bit - Enabled
Virtualisation - Disabled
EIST - Auto

Its the only thing I've changed recently other than clock speeds and voltages.

Thanks!

I'm sure nobody's really interested as I'm not really smashing records here but...

I think I may have got to 3.2GHz (stable).
I've not run Prime95 at all yet, but it did pass 20 runs of IBT using 4 threads. I had to run it on Standard for memory as it wont let me run it on anything higher without failing in less than a second (even @ stock). That should be a reasonable indicator though right?

I think I set the FSB (or whatever it's called) to 356MHz.
The memory is running at 851MHz (I think) (It's the 1.2 ratio thing that you can select on the IP35 Pro)

Then I upped the VCore to 1.315v (or maybe 1.325v) and the memory to 1.825v.
All the rest I left at defaults.
