Why do some of you not realize many of us care about this? If you dont care about it, then YOU go play some games and dont worry about this thread. The £ is forecast to drop even further over the next few months, so it's worrying for those of us who have the unfortunate situation of having to be concerned with how we spend our money.Oh dearanother thread on pricing

Yet parts are a lot cheaper in the US, so how does that work :/
It's all made in Asia so it's not even like it's easier to import.
ffs, are we going to get a new thread on this boring, played out topic EVERY time...
Give it rest.

Supply and demand. If people stop buying GPU's the price will come down one way or another.
Let's put in this way:Also, they are not cheaper in the US - they are selling at what the US RRP is, which is what our british prices are based on after conversion ,VAT and shipping costs:
Not really noticed the prices go up since I bought my 1070 last month. This gen has been overpriced from the start.

I have a US bank account. Were I in the US buying one of these cards, it would absolutely be cheaper than were I to be in the UK and buying from a UK retailer using that same US bank account and dealing with the conversion rate.
For example, using that link of yours, look at the Gigabyte Gaming GTX1080. See how much it is? Lets assume the absolute *worst sales tax in the country* and say 10% - so about $700 all told. Using a store here that lets me use USD, with the card *on sale* with a pretty great deal, it costs me $796. If I use a more average US sales tax and consider the card's normal price here in the UK, the gap is even bigger.
So yes, it is indeed cheaper in the US.
exactly £400 for a mid range GPU is pretty much blood sucking no matter what sort of performance it offers.
Is a new GPU needed to sustain your life? If it then buy one! If not, make do with what you got!
Good general life advice, if you weren't posting on an enthusiast forum specifically for people interested in graphics cards. Showing up on a hobbyist forum to tell people not to get too invested in their hobby is just weird. I mean, it's a little extreme isn't it - if your life depends on it buy a graphics card and if not then don't? People's hobby is becoming less and less affordable. Where else are they going to discuss this with like-minded people?
I really don't get those who come into a clearly-marked thread on the graphics cards forums of a computer retailer to tell people that the price of graphics cards isn't that important. When people start posting how they're going to jump off a building because they can't afford a 1080, then maybe rush in to tell us what life priorities we should have. But maybe not before, eh?
Thing is, as an enthusiast one already would own a good GPU! If one is going to argue or moan about a price hike then dont buy one! Simples
