If they dont speak english why are they in an english speaking school ?

They would not be able to understand the teacher right ?

I bet they can speak english but they just choose to use there language when talking to other kids from there origin.

Don't forget that a class containing children not fluent in English will result in a significant amount of the teachers time being spent assisting them with, what would otherwise be simple tasks. Reducing the amount of time spent with the other pupils, hence damaging their education.

Many children arrive in this country not speaking the lingo, I have no problem with that. They're kids, it's not their fault. But they should not be put into mainstream education until they can achieve a certain level of spoken English. Doing so simply hides the problem under the rug and other children have to may the price.

Alternatively the government should set up special education centres for these kids, but then everyone might start to see the cost! Not so sure Tony would like that one. Better to shove them into normal state schools and hence maintain the argument that immigration is a great thing and we should count ourselves lucky. Preventing a proper open debate about the costs of mass immigration.

BOT, even if this girl did make racist remarks, is this really how our police should be spending their time. For the love of god, suspend the girl. Drag her parents in and inform them her attitude will not be tolerated. Seemed to work when I was at school. Alternatively call the police, resulting in a full investigation, get the council legal department involved and no doubt a load of social workers. Hey it's only the tax payers money, lets just wee it away.

This is a bit crazy, we had a kid in our college class that no one could understand (even the lecturer!) and we weren't sent out of class for saying we couldn't understand him!

although we did just make the extra effort to try and understand him, and also possibly as he was white and it wasn't offensive to minorities etc.

I have been in situations where I have been unable to understand what the other person has been saying and they have been polish, or muslim or whatever and it does make me feel slightly on edge because of all this PC crap that I might offend them!

Seriously though, shouldn't the kids in all english schools have a basic level of english? (or extra classes to bring them upto speed with the standard).

Sounds like the science teacher didn't like the girl in the first place - maybe she's a trouble-maker so the teacher put her with the group of non-english speakers for her own amusement, then way over-reacted just to get her in trouble.

Maybe the girl actually shouted many racist comments about the 'blacks' as her teacher said, and is now trying to get a sympathy vote with drama in the papers.

The news service twists everything, can't believe a word any more :(
 
A friend of mine moved to France last year, taking his wife and 9 year old son. My friend is fluent in french and as such they have little problem with language. They enrolled their son, who only speaks english, into a local school where they were told in no uncertain terms that all classes will be conducted in french at all times and his son's language skills would not be taken into account. It is a simple case of learn french or fail. My friend understands and agrees with that stance, interestingly, so does his son. The foreigners should be told the same, if they don't like it they can **** off.

Extreme right wing views are growing in this country and it is solely due to the inability of the government and other authorities to define these parameters at the start. Something is seriously flawed with this country when the needs of the indigenous population are put after those of immigrants and something is seriously wrong when a schoolgirl is accused of racism. From reading the article the only racism I see is that towards a white schoolgirl.

'cos its a really "good" school with quality pupils that really respect each other and the staff.

Well a lot of "asians" (admittedly the educated ones) KNOW more english (and make better use of the language) than the txt speaking illiterate sun readers these days.

As for go back to where they came from, the majority are born in this country

Because we no longer have discipline in schools and instead of fixing the fundamental flaws in their whole left wing politically correct education philosophy, they put sticky plasters on the gaping wounds of their failure.

Not the ones who don't speak English, presumably.

We already have schools in many areas struggling to cope with the influx of foreign children from countries like Poland, due to the massive immigration over the last few years. How will this be adversely impacting the indigenous children's education?

Fair enough, but then you can't complain when seperate schools are set up for these children to learn in.

Round the corner from where I live is a Japanese school where the teaching is only in Japanese (admittedly it's a private school) but I haven't heard any complaints from the locals regarding it (other than the lack of available parking spaces on Sat mornings)

I can complain about that too :) If those children weren't here then we wouldn't have this problem.

This is just one of the many hidden costs of immigration, which are not adequately offset simply by the fact that the immigrants work and pay taxes.

yup- agree with that completely.

however- i do believe that speaking english should be a requirement of entry into british schools.

it doesnt need to cost the general public anything either- the parents/communities could easily organise this amoungst themselves.

i cant see how that would be unreasonable...
 
My mum works in a Middle school and has to work with kids all day that dont speak a word of english, Its more down to there parents really, they all speak there own language at home so the kids first language isnt english.

There are some people in here saying that kids should know english to be at school etc.. LOL to that, you know how much money that would cost? you know how many asian/europe kids in london that come over here and dont speak a word of english and neither do there parents? They have Learning support assistances in classrooms now (they used to be for people with learning difficulties like dyslexic kids, but nowadays there just there for the asians/polish)

Schools around my area have got to the stage now that its 90% asian and half of them dont speak english so yes that is an amazing strain on the teachers because they have to spent so much longer with the foreign kids and all the white kids dont get anytime from the teachers anymore (which i think is really shocking really)

When i was in school it was mainly white and you wouldnt get any kids that didnt speak a word of english, but nowadays these people dont have any intension to be part of the community which means all there kids dont speak english (To all you muslims/asian/pols etc that speak english and are part of the community i have np with you, its these people that come over to our coutry and dont want to learn any english and just sit in there little community i dont have any time for you and i think your discusting that you can come over here and expect to get everything you want/need without having to adopt to any kind of english heratage)

On topic this guy might of been a chav (she prolly is) and she prolly didnt express her self very well 'innit yeh man' but like you said shes a chav so shes going to talk like a chav :P I think she is right tho, if your put with a group of kids that dont speak ANY english and then they all sit there talkin Urdu that not right. If that was in the workplace that chav could have complained about them and they would have been told that they have to speak english..
