(Reuters) - At least one gunman opened fire during morning services on Sunday at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, and remained on the loose inside the temple, possibly holding hostages, according to witnesses.

Police, ambulances and the fire department were on the scene at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, located about 20 minutes south of Milwaukee.

The dispatcher for Oak Creek Fire Department said first reports of the shooting came in about 10:30 a.m. local time (11.30 a.m. EDT).

"We do have a shooting," she said. "Our whole department is out there, and others as well." She did not have details on any possible victims.

Police officials declined to comment.

It was unclear how many people may have been wounded in the shooting. But two witnesses said the shooter or shooters were still inside the building.

Carolyn Bellin, spokeswoman for Froedhart & The Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, told CNN two men had been brought in and one was undergoing surgery.

his opinion is you should always use a space after a coma, makes for better reading :p

on topic, i can never quite understand our shock and horror, that something like this could happen in a church/cinema/sunday school etc, is it really any differant from the thousands that are being slaughtered around the world, children in syria, Africa aids and famine?

do you understand what i mean? i might not be making myself clear, im very tired. lol

i think it is matey, those kids in Syria didnt die of some bug, they were among other things hacked to death with machetes etc,

as for famine, you dont need to pull a trigger/knife, to kill someone, the western governments turn a blind eye to some famine, while charitys do all the work to save the hungry.

as we know, there is always someone in charge, of someones demise. just whether you can track it back to them ;)
