Howdie!

Right i'm after a system that will mainly be used for gaming. So graphics is essential.

I'll be honest and say i have very little knowledge on building PC's therefore your help will be greatly appritiated.

I have a budget of £1000 for the tower unit.
And a budget of £250 for the monitor, preferably 22"

I would like this case.

I will be looking to store a lot of music on the system as well so a good DVD-RW and HDD is essential.

Any other questions please ask.

Thanks

Hi, what size of monitor are you using? This will help with knowing what graphics card to go for, i.e. what resolution are you running at?

I've included a 22" monitor in this spec and a 4870, for this resolution it's the best card you can get. I use a 4850 at this resolution and it can handle anything I've thrown at it, so a 4870 is all you need

The E8400 I've shown is a good dual core processor, great overclocker. I've currently got mine at 3.8Ghz.

I've included the case you wanted, this choice is purely down to what you want, so go for it. Lian-li are a good make.

This spec is under your budget, but should handle anything you want. You can add a sound card if you like, I'd recommend the Asus xonar dx, this coupled with a decent set of speakers is a great upgrade.

ro55o, that looks pretty good. Better than what i can do anyway, i would like to try overclocking, but i haven't done it before.

I would need wireless built in aswell, does this come with the mobo? Sorry for the silly questions

24" monitor and with 4870 should fly.
Personally with that budget wouldnt get a dualcore as things in the future are going to become more quad core orientated.
As said above, cases are more personal thing but that cases gets good reviews and looks good.
Got 2 harddrives in there both 640GB.
And modular PSU with enough juice to last ya a while.

EDIT: And to your above question, if you are wireless a pci card would need to be included but personally for gaming are you able to plug directly into your modem?

Overclocking is easy and a crime not to do so :p Once you get your PC up and running head over to the overclocking forum, lot's of people on there can offer great advise. There are also loads of guides online.

If you want wireless you'll need to buy a wireless network card, something like this

Theres the age old debate of quad vs dual core. I prefer a faster dual core myself, can get them overclocked to a higher speed than the quad, excellent for gaming as they don't tend to use more than 2 cores. If you do your own research on it, there are arguements for both. It basically comes down to what you prefer. An overclocked quad core is still very good and a bit more future proof.

Yes and these arguments are making it hard for me to choose lol. Thanks for the specs anyway hopefully look at a few more.

What in the future will quadcore be needed for? More demanding games??

I need wireless unfortunately as it will be in my bedroom and the router is downstairs.
